Dear Bella

Every goddamn store is draped in chocolates and love hearts, so I guess it's time for the holiday equivalent of lemon juice poured into the wounds of the lonely and broken hearted.

Screw you, Valentine's Day. Truly.

Do you know actually know the story of Saint Valentine? It's fucking horrifying.

Valentine was a Roman priest in a time when young people weren't allowed to get married because some asshole emperor thought unmarried soldiers were better fighters. Problem was, people can't help falling in love no matter what some dick in a toga says, and so when couples came to Valentine begging him to marry them, he went against the law and performed marriage ceremonies in secret. When the emperor found out, he arrested Valentine, threw him in prison, tortured him, and eventually cut his head off.

Romantic, right?

The thing is, even when he was going to die, Valentine was unrepentant. He believed in true love and went through hell to defend it.

To me, that's all kinds of badass.

I used to think true love was bullshit, but these days, I'm kind of obsessed with it. Well, with you, to be specific. My true love.

As much as I tried to deny what I felt for you, I know now that I'll never love anyone as much as I love you. And that's why I'm working my ass off to become a man who's worthy of you.

The purpose of writing this isn't to tell you that, though. Nope. Not ready for that yet. But one day, when I've worked through all my crap and won you back, I may show this letter to you.

And then, I'm going to make it my mission to make you happier than any other woman on the planet. It will be Valentine's Day every day of the year. I promise you that.
