Alice took her usual seat beside him, reaching across to snatch the teapot.

The Hatter tilted his head to the side, studying her curiously. "And what have you been up to these last long months, my dear?"

Alice grinned mischievously at him. "Mulling over things that begin with the letter M."

He smiled back. "Misadventures?"

"Management, marketing, money… marriage."

The Hatter froze in mid-sip, then haughtily returned his cup to his saucer. "Madness," he glared.

"Muchness," she shot back.

"MOVE DOWN!" he cried, and shooed her to the next seat.

She nestled into the chair, issuing an unspoken challenge. "Moodiness."

"Mystery," she whispered, shaking her head.

"Mistake," she pled.

"Many… too many."

"LOVE!" she shouted, bringing their clever argument to a close.

"Our investigation has nothing to do with the letter L."

"It has everything to do with it."

And she kissed him.
