They each drew their blades, each looking the other in the eye, making no sudden movements, getting ready to fight the battle.

The battle that would shape their futures forever.

Her sentiment over the whole thing, however, was simple.

She did not want them to fight.

She knew that everything had led to this, and she knew that it was the only way for them to settle everything, but still.......

She had hoped that they could have settled it a different way.

She knew them both so well, she just didn't want it to end...especially the way that it had to.

She also knew, knew better than anything, what was going to happen.

In the end, someone was going down permanently by the end of all this.

But if only there was something she could do!

She couldn't just let it all end like this, could she?

They both deserved far more than that;they treated her like.........well, like they couldn't lose her no matter what..........like they....dare she think it.....love her so much that they would fight to the death for her and her alone?

She just couldn't think of losing either of them;she just couldn't!

She had experienced far too much loss already; they had been the ones to hold her together when it seemed hopeless.

Surely she could do the same for them, right?

Then the solution hit her.

If she ran into the middle of their battle....maybe that would make them stop! Then all of this would end!

She started toward them..........

but she had picked the worse time to enter the strife...

for each of them had unleashed their strongest attack......

and each of their blades pierced her body.

She barely felt the swords being pulled from her body; she barely heard his sword drop to the ground, or his footsteps as he ran towards her, or his voice calling her name. She could only hear her heartbeat, nothing else. She felt herself falling, until she felt herself caught and being forced to sit up. She felt as if her eyelids weighed a ton, though she wanted to open them more than anything;she wanted to let them know that she was alright.

No, they know better, she thought, but...I don't want them to worry...they already do far too much for me as it is;I wouldn't be like this otherwise.

Eventually, she forced her eyes open, to find both of them leaning over her, and she was in one of their arms. Their eyes widened when they saw her eyes open. She felt weak, and soon realized why:she raised one of her hands in front of her eyes;it was covered in blood.

She started to feel dizzy......she felt her eyes closing.....she heard both of them calling her name, screaming at her to come back, to not leave them....

I...can't help it........I'm not as........strong as you both are.......I'm sorry......so very sorry..........

You were there.....when I needed you the most.........thank you.........

Her bloody hand dropped to her side as her spirit faded.

It made no difference, however.

Both of them picked up their blades and fought once again, to take responsibility for her........

for all that they had done........

to her, to themselves........

In their eyes, neither of them could be forgiven.

Ever.

In the end.........

They both fought to the death..........

Their blades were stained with each other's blood...........and hers............forever.
