The sound of the hotel door shutting caused Buttercup to groggily wake up.

"Buttercup? Are you up? I got breakfast for all of us." Bubbles placed the food on the motel dresser and then walked over towards her sister.

"What's goin' on?" Ace muttered from the pillow that concealed his face.

Wait. Oh shit, this is awkward!

Buttercup and Ace's bodies were intertwined; her leg was draped over his, her arm wrapped around his chest, and there was hardly a centimeter between the two. She quickly pushed him away and jumped up to greet her sister.

"I've never seen a guy be the little spoon before." Bubbles giggled.

"Shut the fuck up." The green puff shoved her sister. She knew there was no hiding her feelings for Ace from Bubbles now; she already knew the full of extent of it. As embarrassing as it was, Bubbles' response was relieving. It was one of giddy excitement, rather than the kind of disappointment and disapproval that Buttercup couldn't help but expect given the hostile history they both had with Ace.

Who am I kidding? She wanted us to be together.

Ace slowly lifted himself from the floor, groaning as he stretched. He shuffled into the bathroom after offering a weak smile to the other two.

"That's so cute! He's all shy and embarrassed." Bubbles' attempts at whispering were poorly executed.

"He doesn't get embarrassed."

"Did you guys...? I mean if you did I didn't hear anything."

"Holy shit, Bubbles! No! Oh my god, no! When did you become such a fucking pervert?"

"I'm not being a pervert! I just feel like since we're sharing a room I have a right to know!"

"Am I interruptin' somethin' ladies?" Ace hesitantly slinked out of the bathroom. He didn't want to be a part of this uncomfortable discussion. He had planned on waking up earlier to remove himself from Buttercup's embrace before her sister woke up to see it. He wasn't ashamed; he just hated the awkward feeling in the air.

"No, you're fine! But hurry up and eat breakfast. We have to be at the TDF headquarters in an hour so that we can catch Blossom during her lunch break." Bubbles grabbed plates and served the other two.

"What's TDF?" Ace plopped down on the bed.

"Townsville Defense Force. They might be changing it soon though because I think she's branching out to other cities. She's a busy lady." The blond girl eyed her sister carefully. She still wasn't sure if Buttercup was ready to reunite with Blossom. Only a few years had passed and, with no one speaking to each other for so long, old feelings could quickly bubble over with a few wrong words or actions.

"What if she turns us away?" Buttercup stared at the window. She could see the TDF building from the motel. It was a tall, intimidating piece of infrastructure. If any criminals or monsters decided to mess with Townsville, they would definitely think twice after their eyes settled on that menacing skyscraper.

"She won't, Buttercup. I know she misses us."

"This is gonna be quite the day, ladies."

"You got that right, Ace! Now come on and eat! I want to get there early so I can see some other people too." Bubbles jumped around the room with glee. She couldn't wait to finally share a hug with all of her sisters again. It had been so long since they laughed together; just the thought of it made Bubbles' heart pound widely and a smile spread across her face.

"Could you stop skipping around the room? It's stressing me out. Do you have any more cigarettes?"

"I don't think yah need one of those." Ace patted the spot next to him to get the girl to sit down.

"Shut up." She sat on the bed beside him.

"Shit, why are yah shakin'?" He tried to hold the girl's trembling hands.

"Just shut up and eat your dumb breakfast." Buttercup wanted to fast forward to the moment when everyone reunited. The wait for it was agonizing and simply allowed her to remember all of the fights, the insults, and the anger that her and Blossom shared when they were younger.

"Come on you two, don't break up yet! You just got together!"

"Bubbles, I am going to kick your ass after this."

Ace kissed Buttercup's hand and laughed along with Bubbles.

"Yeah, yeah. Come on you slow pokes, we don't have all day to get ready!"

This day is going to kill me.

"Welcome to the headquarters for Townsville's Defense Force, how can I help you?" A cheerful receptionist greeted the trio at the entrance.

"Can you tell us when Blossom Utonium will be on break, please?"

"She is in the middle of an important meeting so I'm not quite sure at this moment. Would you like to set up an appointment with her? I'm going to warn you though, she's pretty booked for most of this week." The receptionist opened up a thick planner and flipped through several pages.

"Is she even going to have a break today? I was told she was supposed to."

"I have no idea. This meeting with that police chief was a surprise this morning. And we all know how much Blossom hates surprises!" The woman laughed but the others all winced at the joke.

"Well, when does she get off work?"

"You really need to get in touch with her, don't you? Why? You do realize she's a very busy and important woman, right?"

"Oh my God! Bubbles? Bubbles is that you?" A loud voice echoed from down the long hallway. A man came jogging towards the group, suited up in what resembled a police uniform.

"Boomer!" Bubbles shrieked and jumped into the man's arms, "It's been so long!"

"Wait, your name is Bubbles? As in the former Powerp-"The receptionist's eyes widened to almost inhuman proportions.

"Yes, this is the famous Bubbles Utonium!" Boomer put the girl down. "Don't worry about it Tracy, I've got this taken care of. Blossom is going on break after that big meeting with the Preston City police chief, right?"

"I... uh, yes." The woman stared at both Bubbles and Buttercup, dumbfounded. She had never met the other two Powerpuffs before; she had only heard stories about their heroism and then their subsequent breakup. It was overwhelming to say the least.

"That'll take a while. He's a hardass for sure, but Blossom will have him cracked soon enough. Tracy, don't tell Blossom what's going on just yet. I'd like it if you just left all that to us, got it?" Boomer flashed a smile and the woman slowly nodded her head in compliance. She didn't want to be the one to break the news to Blossom anyways.

"Boomer, we have to catch up while we wait! Doesn't this place have some sort of lounge or something?" Bubbles hadn't seen her old friend in forever. She figured today would be a good day for any reunion, after all.

"Yeah, of course. I'll take you all down there. Buttercup, it's nice to see you again." Boomer offered his hand out. The two had never been close, but he heard about her spiral out of control after the incident and definitely sympathized with her. It made him happy to see her put together again.

"Good to see you too, Boomer."

"Is that you, Ace?" The blond boy gasped in surprise.

"It sure is." Ace patted the Rowdyruff on the back.

"I haven't seen you since you got locked up! You look great, man. It's nice to see a former baddie doin' good things."

"I've changed a lot."

"Awesome. Butch should be down there getting lunch already. We just came back from arresting some thugs over in Arksville. It's a rough place, that's all I got to say."

The group started the walk towards the cafeteria.

"So you finally decided to join the good guys officially, huh?" Bubbles was glad to see that the Rowdyruffs left their criminal past behind them. She knew they weren't really evil, just rebellious guys with no one telling them wrong from right. Once they got some guidance, they were actually nice boys.

"Yeah, your sister offered my brothers and me this job and it's been great. We've been kicking some serious ass."

"Oh look, it's Butch!" Bubbles ran over and hugged him from behind.

"What the fuck?"

"Butch, it's Bubbles!"

He got up from his chair and turned to look at the girl and the others now approaching the table.

"Holy shit." A smile creeped onto his face and he embraced the blue puff.

"I saw them all in the lobby and thought you might want to participate in this little reunion too." Boomer pulled out a few chairs for everyone to take a seat in.

"Buttercup? Is that you?" Butch walked over to the girl in amazement.

"Who else would it be?" Buttercup offered a smirk.

"Jesus, Buttercup!" He pulled her into a tight hug.

"Come on, let's sit down." She pried him off of her, laughing.

"I've missed you. Where the hell have you been?"

They all took their seats around the table.

"I'm in Cherryton now. I haven't been to Townsville in a few years." Buttercup didn't want to talk about her personal life to anyone right now. All she wanted was to see her sister.

"Cherryton is so far away! You have to come up here more often."

"I'll try to do that."

"How's uh, Mitch?"

This is the kind of shit I'm talking about. Why does everyone feel the need to ask such stupid questions?

"I wouldn't have any idea. We aren't together anymore. Honestly, I hope he's pretty shitty." Buttercup reached across the table and grabbed one of the fries on Butch's plate.

"Thank God. I'm sorry but that guy was an asshole." Boomer leaned back in his chair.

"You look great, Buttercup."

"Thanks, Butch."

"No, seriously, you've really gotten h-"

"We get the point, Butch." Boomer sighed at his brother's terrible compliments.

"We should hang out after you're done talking to Blossom. We can catch up some more." Butch flashed a smile at Buttercup. They had hooked up in the past, but never dated for an extended period of time. He always thought they had good chemistry, though.

"I, uh..."

"She's gonna have to say no to yah generous offer." Ace placed his hand over hers. He never thought of himself as the jealous type. Then again, he had never been in a situation like this before.

"Wait, what?" Boomer began to crack up in his seat. Buttercup felt her face get hot as she slinked down in her chair.

Perfect.

"You two are together?" Butch didn't even try to hide his shock. Her being with him contradicted everything the Powerpuffs used to stand for. It was crazy.

"Uh, somethin' like that, yeah." Ace suddenly regretted his boldness. He just stumbled into an uncomfortable situation and dragged Buttercup along with him.

"I was wondering why you were here!" Boomer couldn't control his fits of giggles at the entire predicament.

"How the hell did this happen?" Butch couldn't get over the fact that Buttercup and the former gang leader were actually sitting in front of him, hand in hand.

"They met back up again in Cherryton a year ago, I think. It was all coincidental! And I guess they just fell in love!" Bubbles sighed happily thinking about the romance of it all.

"I think yah paraphrasin' a bit, kid." Ace released Buttercup's hand quickly. All this talk about love and their relationship wasn't something he expected to be happening today.

"He tried to kill your sisters!" Butch exclaimed.

"That was a long time ago!" Ace cringed thinking about his teenage stupidity. He was actually surprised that Buttercup didn't mention that incident more often though. It seemed like she was happy to forget it.

"Can we not talk about this, please?" Buttercup tried to hide her deep embarrassment.

"How old are you?" Butch lowered his voice and glared at the man. He didn't like the idea of this at all.

"Are yah gonna arrest me or somethin', kiddo?" Ace couldn't help but be a smartass. He never liked the Rowdyruffs, especially not the raspy voiced Butch. They were annoyances when they were five and apparently they hadn't changed their ways in the past decade and a half.

"Don't fuck with me, man." Butch's face flushed with anger.

"Can you both just shut up? Can we enjoy ourselves without being complete jackasses?" Bubbles shrieked.

Everyone at the table calmed down after a few moments of silence.

"Thank you."

"So, why did you all decide to come up to Townsville now?" Boomer thought it would be best to focus the conversation on to something less controversial.

"Well, Buttercup and I just recently met back up a sometime ago. We decided that things wouldn't be complete without Blossom. So, after a few months of mental preparation, we finally planned to come here and reunite the Powerpuffs!"

"Fantastic. I'm excited to see how it goes."

"Where's Brick?"

"Oh, he's off at some other meeting. He works closely with Blossom to keep the defense system going smoothly. I'm pretty sure they got a thing going on, but don't mention that to her when you see her." Boomer cackled.

"That's so cute!"

"Yeah, I guess it is. They work well together. If they ever had kids, they'd be baby geniuses or something."

"Um, excuse me everyone." The receptionist stood sheepishly by the table.

"What's going on, Tracy?" Butch winked at her.

"Hi, Butch. Um, I just wanted to come here and, uh, say that Blossom is done with her meeting. I didn't tell her anything. But, she is on break now. If you're, uh, going to visit her, you should do it now." Tracy was trembling. In front of her were some of the most powerful people in the world. It was amazing.

"She should be in her office. It's the big one on floor fifteen. Tracy, can you take them there? We'll hang back while you all go see her." Boomer patted Bubbles on the back.

"Good luck." Butch muttered.

"Um, follow me, ladies."

"Oh, shit." Buttercup felt the panic start to rise again. She had briefly forgotten about it all in the midst of catching up with the Rowdyruffs. Her sister was in this building. It hadn't quite sunk in yet until now. It had been years. She wasn't prepared for rejection. She wasn't prepared to shut this chapter in her life.

"It's gonna be okay." Ace kissed her gently on the cheek.

"We have to hurry, ladies." Tracy blurted out.

"Come on, Buttercup." Bubbles sprang out of her seat and tugged her sister to her feet.

The two girls followed the woman to the elevator.

"Are you ready?" Bubbles was already getting teary eyed.

"No."

The elevator doors opened. There was no going back.

Please review. Those reviews really mean a lot to me.
