"What?" Prudie said, eyeing Trey.

"It's a good accent" Trey said, biting his finger to hide his smile.

"Well languages are my speciality. I just thought that..." Prudie replied, looking down and then back up at Trey's intense gaze.

"French Teacher" Trey replied with a smirk.

Prudie looked down, fighting the urge to blush.

"Say something to me in French." Trey replied, trying to coax her eyes to meet his.

"Like what?" Prudie replied, still avoiding his gaze and staring intensely at the lines she had been helping him rehearse.

"Anything." Trey whispered, once again biting his finger.

"Je voudrais avoir le courage de vous dire que je veux que vous." Prudie whispered in reply.

"What does that mean?" Trey said.

Prudie once again fought the urge to blush and looked right into Trey's eyes and said, "You'll find out some day."

Then she stood up gracefully and fled the auditorium as swiftly as possible.

Trey just gazed at her retreating back and sighed longingly.

Prudie avoided Trey for the next few days until he caught her sitting in her car reading a book. So he climbed into the front seat next to her.

"I want you too you know" Trey said, staring out through the windshield.

Prudie stayed silent and continued reading her book.

"How did you figure it out?" Prudie finally replied.

"I have ways" Trey said with a small sigh before turning to face her.

Prudie turned to face him too and stared at him for a few moments.

Trey moved closer to her until their lips were only inches apart.

"You really shouldn't do this Trey." Prudie said finally averting her gaze.

"Why? Je t'aime." Trey said.

"No you don't. You don't know what you feel." Prudie said, fighting the urge to lean into him.

"Yes I do." Trey said before closing the gap between them and pressing his lips firmly to hers.

Prudie pulled away with tears running down her face, "We can't"

"Yes we can" Trey said before leaning in to kiss her again.

Prudie pulled away with a gasp and quickly got out of the car and walked as fast as possible back into the school.

Trey sighed and shook his head to gain control of his body again before getting out of the car and following her into the school.

End Authors Note: The words in French are translated to mean "I wish I had the courage to tell you I want you." Hense the title.

Disclaimer: I do not own the Jane Austen Book Club, book or movie. Well I own the movie, but you know what I mean. Just came up with this after watching the movie various times.
