I do not own InuYasha or any of the characters created by Rumiko Takahashi
The late summer sunlight slanted through the trees, casting long shadows over the water. Twilight was not far away.
She lay in the water, eyes closed, letting her body float in the pool. At one end, a small waterfall cascaded down into the pool, and at the other end, the water swirled away over the rocks to fill the stream below. But here, where she was, the water was calm. Her dark hair swirled around her head, and the late light lit warm patches on her bare skin peaking above the surface. She was at peace.
Suddenly, a splash of water hit her, covering her face for a moment.
Standing up in the pool and sputtering, she shot an evil glance to the silver-haired man half crouching behind a large rock, who grinned toothily at her.
"InuYasha!" she said. "That wasn't very nice."
He swam over to her, and wrapped his arms around her. "It got your attention, though." He let his hand run across the damp skin of her shoulder and down her back while pulling her close. She shivered a little, both from the air and his closeness. His lips ghosted her cheek. "I think the rabbit's ready to eat. Want to get out?"
She nodded. Picking her up, and wrapping a strong arm under her knees, he leapt to the shore.
Later, after getting dressed and eating dinner, InuYasha sat with his back against a tree and Kagome in his lap, her head snuggled against his chest.
"It's been such a lovely day," she said.
"Keh," he said, too content to really want to speak. He kissed the top of her head.
For several minutes, they said nothing, instead watched the fire burn and the full moon rise. InuYasha's hand made random patterns down Kagome's side, eventually nudging the hem of her kosode up and exposing bare leg.
"I wonder what trouble Atae's managed to get himself into? I'm sure we'll hear all about it tomorrow," Kagome wondered idly as she played with a lock of InuYasha's hair.
InuYasha lifted Kagome's chin. His eyes glowed in the firelight. "How do you know he's gotten into any trouble?" His fingers ran down the neckline of her kosode as his lips brushed hers lightly.
"Like father, like son," she said, laughing.
"Feh," he replied, and proceeded to show her just how bad he really could be.
