SEASHORE FAREWELL

The tide's coming in, melting into the sand
Grey foam kisses hissing good-byes.
The earth sighs as air draws the heat from the land
And puts on night's shadowy guise.
So peaceful
So calm
Life goes on, as they say
The sea roars the
Same lullaby
As surely it did
When Poseidon himself
Would listen to his daughters cry.
The iodine salt in the wind
Burns my eyes
I'm grateful that you'll never know
I crushed the last piece of my world in my fist
And watched it pour through
And you - go.
