So where was the line drawn between genuinely romantic and overblown? How was a man supposed to know? Most importantly, where would Beckett draw that line and how would he know? He thought he had grown to know her pretty well, but he had not foreseen the complication of Demming, who already seemed on her wavelength when it came to romance. Chinese? In the precinct?
