A Promise

She drops Ella off with Walter and Astrid, telling them she was going to look for Peter and that she'd be back soon.

She finds him, pretty quickly, standing on a beach in Rhode Island. It was cold and windy and overcast. They were the only souls anywhere near the beach.

She doesn't say anything, just watches him from a distance. She knows he needs to be alone, but she needs to know that he's okay.

"My mom used to bring me here when I was young," he said, loud enough for her to hear.

She sighs and walks toward him.

"How'd you know I was here?" she asks.

He shrugs. "Just knew. How'd you know I was here?"

She shrugs. "You're mom used to bring you here when you were young," she smiles slightly.

He let out a half laugh, dropping his hands to his sides.

"I'm not following you," she assures him as they both stare out at the ocean. "I just needed to make sure you were okay."

"I'm okay," he says.

"I'll leave." She turns to walk away, but he reaches out and takes her hand to stop her.

"Stay," he says.

The turns back to him, but they don't drop their hands.

"I thought you wanted to be alone."

"Alone, away from Walter, not away from you."

"I know what Walter did was wrong," she says, their hands still clasped. "But does he really deserve this?"

"He lied to me."

"He loves you."

"He showed it real well, with all the lying."

"Peter," she said. "He took you from the alternate universe to save you. He couldn't bear for you to die again."

It's a while before either says anything again.

"I really should go now," Olivia says. "I have to go save Ella from Walter and Astrid." She turns to walk away, reluctantly dropping his hand. "And Peter, it's been almost a week. I don't know how long I'll be able to keep pretending to look for you."

"I'll be back in a couple of days," he says. "Promise."
