Perhaps his children didn't understand, perhaps his record in the past hadn't been the most virtuous, but, for the moment, Georg firmly believed he loved Ninni. If he hadn't… well, that had been his whole point in marrying her. His mother, even his children, they may have all disagreed, they may have disliked Ninni for her occupation, they may have been displeased in the first degree, but what did any of that matter to a man in love with a woman. And, yes, he reminded himself, he did love Ninni; very much so.

He was sure, too, that Ninni loved him. Why not?
