Fanfiction Disclaimer (Formally "Warning from Authoress"; new name sounds better): I apologize in advance if there are any stories like mine out there, but I did not steal this plot idea from anyone.
Authoress Note: So, this is just the first on a list of stories that I'm going to write. Sorry if it's a bit… sucky, but, I did what I could with it!
Disclaimer: I own nothing… sadly.
In retrospect, Neji probably should've seen this coming… one cannot simply tell Konoha's weapons mistress, "I'm going to the weapons' shop" without expecting her to grin and say, "I'll go with you!"
Everyone says that Neji's a genius: he managed to teach himself Main Branch techniques; he somehow survived being stabbed and thus, being in a life-threatening condition once he was found by medic nins; he was at the top of his academy class; survived through things 'normal' people would never would have and made it to Jonin relatively easy (and he was seriously thinking about going out for Anbu…) all before he was twenty.
Yes, Neji Hyuuga was indeed a genius.
So how had he not seen this coming?
"I don't come in here for a week and this is what happens?" Neji sighed from his spot leaning against a wall. The employee was clearly frazzled under his teammate's intense interrogation. "Well… um…"
"Tenten-san, I don't make the weapons…I just work here."
"Do you sharpen them?"
"Sometimes, when I'm—" Tenten yanked a sword from the wall and pointed it at the employee. "Then why is this blade so dull?"
"Don't point a weapon at me!"
"It's dull, so it won't kill you."
"It's not dull!"
"My teammate could sharpen a better weapon then this – drunk!"
"I sharpened to exactly the right—"
"Can I stab you with it, then?"
"Why not? Like I said, you won't die."
"Tenten-san, my boss showed me personally how to sharpen weapons; so that sword," the employee carefully moved it so Tenten wouldn't accidentally (on purpose) harm him. "is sharpened."
"You're new." Statement, not question. "What does that—"
"Do you even like weapons? Are you just here for the paycheck?"
The look on Tenten's face was a cross of disbelief and disgust. "You don't deserve to work here!"
Neji massaged his temples and sighed. He felt a headache coming on…
"Okay, okay, okay. I'm a reasonable woman,"
'No, you're not.' Neji thought.
"So, I'll compromise. I'll allow you to keep your job and in turn, I'm going to school you on weaponry."
"All weapons. You must learn! We'll start tomorrow, once that obsessive, training freak Hyuuga stops monopolizing my time like a spoiled brat." Tenten did know that Neji was still here, right?
"Have no choice." Tenten then turned and saw Neji. "Oh, hi, Neji! When'd you get here?"
Yes. That was definitely a headache…
Needless to say, Neji didn't buy anything that day.
When he went back the next day, - without Tenten – he had to admit (to himself, of course) that he was slightly… amused when the shop owner was working, grumbling about how Tenten had scared away another employee…
