The Secret Meeting

The new atmosphere was enough distraction for the ordinary passersby. Submerged in the constant fear and darkness only the Dark Lord could create, no one noticed as Lucius Malfoy shoved Severus Snape into an alley.

Taken aback by the sudden force pushing him against a dirty wall, Severus couldn't help but feel intimidated by Lucius' overpowering presence. Malfoy's everlasting smug smirk belittled even the bravest wizards; and Severus was no exception.

"What did I tell you, Snape?" Lucius hissed threateningly. "I do not trust you. I never had-"

"The Dark Lord-"

"I do not care if the Dark Lord is fooled by your acting skills!" Lucius screamed, grabbing Snape's robes by the neck and pressing him further into the cold bricks behind him. "I know who you are and what you are doing," he continued in a lower voice. With a quick glance towards the street, Lucius made sure that no one became aware of their secret little meeting just yet.

Severus couldn't continue looking Lucius in the eye. Focusing his own dark eyes on a broken pipe licking on the opposite wall, Severus waited for Lucius to continue.

Letting go of Severus' robes, Lucius' trademark smirk was back on his face as he rearranged the neckline of Snape's outfit. "Do yourself a favour, Snape. Stay away from my son."

"But, Narcissa asked me-"

A humourless laugh escaped Lucius' lips as he made Snape look him in the eyes. "Are we really going to allow women to interfere in the Dark Lord's plans? Draco knows what is best for him. Draco was assigned to do something important. If I ever find out you did anything to keep him from succeeding, I promise you that is the last thing you will ever do."

And with that, Lucius turned and walked back elegantly into the crowded streets of Diagon Alley. He left behind a threat that sounded more like a promise ringing in Snape's ears, as the end of Lucius' robes disappeared around the corner.
