The Christmas lights sparkled, the spirit hung in the air, mixed with scents of cider, nutmeg and cinnamon.
Tony and Ziva sat at their desks, each focused on paperwork they needed finished before the holiday. The unusual silence was beginning to get to Tony and he began humming a Christmas medley to himself.
After a minute, his humming turned to singing. "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart…" he began.
"The very next day, you gave it away," a sweet female voice continued.
Tony looked up, surprised. "This year, to save me from tears…"
He held his breath.
