EDWARD walks out of the forest towards BELLA into their meadow; his skin glistening like diamonds.

When you loved the one who was killing you,

it left you no options. How could you run,

how could you fight, when doing so would

hurt that beloved one?

Edward reaches Bella and hands her a red rose.

If your life was all you had to give your

beloved, how could you not give it?

Bella takes the rose; her brown eyes looking into his.

If it was someone you truly loved?

Bella stands in front of Edward. She smells the rose she holds in her hand and smiles.

I'd had more happiness than most people ever

The rose wilts quickly and the sky goes dark.

Bella's eyes turn red.

Was there some natural law that demanded

equal shares of happiness and misery in the

world? Was my joy overthrowing the balance?

A wolf howls.

Bella looks toward the sound and sees a wolf and a child running off into the night.

There are hundreds of glowing red eyes coming from either side of the forest where the wolf and child are running.

Bella drops the rose.

Edward puts his hands on Bella's shoulders.

CARLISLE, ESME, ROSALIE, EMMETT, ALICE and JASPER walk up and stand behind Edward and Bella.

It was not going to be the end of the world.

Just the end of the Cullens. The end of

Edward, the end of me. I preferred it that

way – the last part anyway. I would not live

without Edward again; if he was leaving this

world, then I would be right behind him.

A/N: When I wrote this scene, I took what EYE thought to be the most powerful narrations made by Bella throughout the book and put them into this opening sequence.

To make them really stand out, I paired that with some highly symbolic visuals (in case it wasn't obvious, the rose was symbolic of Nessie in the way that Edward gave it to Bella, it aged quickly), and I owe that brilliant idea to MarniacalMuse. When I told her what I was trying to go for, she thought of the rose and ts scene was born.

I hope you all enjoyed my take on what I think would make a pretty awesome opening sequence to this story in film.
