"C'mon, Reggie!" yelled a six year old Sirius Black to his four year old brother Regulus. "The sprinklers are on outside! Let's go run in 'em!"

"What's a sprinkler?" questioned Regulus.

"A super cool awesome thing that spins around and sprays water!" declared Sirius excitedly. "C'mon! Let's go get wet!"

The small boy considered this. It was a boiling hot, muggy day, the boys' mother was out for the afternoon, and their father probably wouldn't notice.

"Let's go!" he exclaimed.

The two boys grasped hands and ran out, and spent the next half hour in heaven, daring each other to do outrageous things, jumping and spinning, getting sopping wet, and having the time of their lives.

"Uh-oh..." muttered Sirius as their father stepped briskly into the yard.

"What are you doing?"

Regulus looked into his father's face and gulped. "Having fun," he declared.

For a moment, Orion Black looked as if he was going to yell, then decided against it.

He threw off his shoes and ran through the sprinklers, too.

In the years to come, perhaps Orion Black would die, maybe Walburga Black would get steadily angrier and angrier, it was possible that Regulus and Sirius would feud and eventually come to hate each other, and it could happen that Sirius would be disowned. But that brilliantly warm summer afternoon, nor father, nor sons, knew or cared of upcoming events, and all that mattered was the wonderful water, splashing in their faces, and the screams of happiness that only sprinklers can bring.

Just a cute little oneshot I made up after I ran in a sprinkler. :)
