Just because I can't get the idea of Reid dying out of my head. I think his death would truly destroy the team. :(
It all happened so quickly...The gunshots came out of no where. Morgan remembered that moment as if it happened a few seconds ago. It was still all so clear.
Reid's eyes got so wide at the gunshots.
"Morgan, get down!" The kid shoved Morgan away.
"Reid! NO!" Morgan bellowed as he saw the bullets hit Reid's chest. "Reid! Reid!" He raced to the kid's body and caught it before he collapsed on the ground.
"Morgan," gasped Reid, his body shaking, blood coming from his mouth.
"Agent down! Send an ambulance right away!" Morgan shouted through the mouth piece. "Come on Reid, stay with me. You have to stay with me!"
"Morgan," Reid repeated.
"Come on, you need to stay with me! You need to fight!" Real fear was in Morgan's voice.
"Take...care of my mom for me," whispered Reid. "She's going to need someone to look after her..."
Morgan shook his head.
"No one is going to need to take care of her. Stop talking like that! You'll get through this! You just need to fight." He was NOT losing Reid!
"Thank you," Reid suddenly whispered, his whole body shaking. He knew...he knew he couldn't surive this. And he was glad that he wasn't alone, that Morgan was with him tot he end.
"For what?" Tears fell from Morgan's face.
"For being the first real friend I ever had." With that Reid suddenly started shaking, and then went limp in Morgan's arms.
"Reid? No...no no NO!" Morgan let out the last yell as he clutched Reid's body, rocking back and forth. The ambulence came then, and so did the rest of the team.
Emily froze in horror, and so did Hotch and Rossi and JJ as they stared at the site in front of them. Morgan rocking back and forth, holding a limp Reid. JJ put her hand to her mouth.
"No," she whispered, tears rolling down her cheeks. 'No..."
Morgan looked up at them, tears rolling down his own cheeks as well.
"You're too late." He slouched on the ground. "He's gone..."
"No!" Emily quickly knelt down to his level and felt for a pulse. She shook her head, bit her lip. "No, it's not possible!"
Hotch stood there, completly frozen to the ground. He was unable to move, unable to think. He just felt...sick. This had to be some sort of nightmare.
Someone like Spencer Reid couldn't die...he was invincible, he was...Spencer Reid.
And just like that he was gone.
Rossi closed his eyes as he watched the chaos continue. JJ and Emily were sobbing onto each other's shoulders while Morgan just sat there, holding Reid, rocking the kid back and forth.
It was all happening so fast, like it was from a dream.
Only it wasn't a dream, it was real.
Morgan sat on the chair at his desk. It had been a few days since that fateful night, and he still kept on reliving it like it was happening again.
He couldnt' stop reliving it in his sleep. He couldn't stop picturing Reid's face as he fell. The look of shock, the look of fear.
"Thank you for being the first real friend I ever had."
Morgan wiped the tears from his eyes.
"I'm not a real friend, Reid," he whispered as he stared at the kid's picture. "If I was, I'd have been able to save you. I couldn't, and for that I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
He had insisted on riding to the morgue with the body. He just couldn't say goodbye yet.
He kept on staring at the body bag-wishing that this was some sort of sick joke. That Reid would pop out of it and yell april fools or something.
Nothing happened. He felt like he was in a daze.
"Morgan." Emily's voice was soft. Morgan looked up from his chair.
"It's midnight. Time to go home."
"I'll leave in a little bit."
Emily paused and nodded. She walked towards the door and saw Garcia standing there, looking at Morgan worriedly. She shook her head at Garcia.
Garcia had fainted when she heard the news. It was the kind of information she was unable to process.
Her baby was gone, and never coming back.
And now Garcia could see her other baby slowly leaving her as well. And it killed her. She wanted to help, butg wasn't sure how. Slowly she left with Emily.
Morgan sat there, in the dark, holding Reid's picture-wishing, desperatly, that this was still all some horrible dream. That he'd see Reid poke his head around the corner.
But he knew that wasn't going to happen.
Alone, with just his thoughts, Morgan started to sob.
"I'm so sorry, Reid," he whispered. "I'm so sorry."
Hotch could hear Morgan's sobs in his office and closed his eyes.
It became clearer and clearer to him that when Spencer Reid died a part of the team died as well.
Would they ever be what they were?
Would they be able to survive something like this?
"Why'd you have to leave, Reid?" He whispered into the air. "Why? We needed you."
He sat there and listened to Morgan's sobs, while praying for this nightmare to end.
Should I still continue?
