Hunny yawned, patting his mouth delicately. He was extremely tired because he had to stay up late last night taking care of Takashi. His cousin had fallen ill and Hunny insisted taking care of him. Sadly, he had to go to school, while Takashi stayed home. He was sort of curious to see the reactions he'd get showing up without his tall cousin.
He sniffed, rubbing his nose. It was a cold morning and Hunny had decided to walk the rest of the way to the school since the car broke down. He had traumatized his driver when he announced his plan—but he skipped off before his driver could do much of anything.
Hunny beamed when he caught the familiar image of the school in the distance and picked up his happy pace. He felt bad about his glee, since Takashi was at home sick as a dog, but he couldn't do anything else.
Hunny looked both ways and crossed the street, turning to head down the sidewalk to the gates when his toe caught in a jut in the sidewalk and he ended up with his face planted on the cement. He lay there a moment, stunned, both arms in the air. He sat up very slowly, tears running down his face.
"Uuu…uuu…" he sobbed, rubbing his face.
"Are you okay?" a soft voice asked him. Hunny blinked at the ground and looked up. Through his tears, he saw a pretty girl kneeling in front of him, her expression concerned. She wore a black public uniform, so Hunny didn't recognize her. She had straight brown hair and soft grey eyes, which were fixated on his tear-stained face.
"Uuu…" he replied.
"You dropped this," she said in a soothing voice, handing his pink rabbit over. Hunny took it and pressed the toy to his chest, sniffing. He didn't look up but he heard shuffling, blinking curiously when he felt pressure on his forehead. He looked up and saw the girl's hands on his head, putting a bandage on the burn on his temple.
"There," she smiled at him, pulling away. "All better."
Somehow, her kindness made the tears come faster. "Uuuuuu!" he cried, hugging Usa tightly. The girl looked surprised but recovered quickly, smiling affectionately as she ruffled his hair.
"Don't cry. There, there. It's okay," she hummed, rubbing his head. Slowly, the tears stopped and Hunny's eyes closed, fascinated at the way her soft palm rubbing at his head made him feel so much better. He felt like a dog…but somehow, he enjoyed it.
He opened his eyes and saw her smiling. He was surprised to feel his face slowly turn red.
"Do you want me to walk you to your mom?" she asked. Hunny looked confused then realized she thought he was a little kid. He began to laugh but contained himself quickly, shooting her an innocent smile.
"Sure, Araishii-chan," he said instead. She tilted her head at him and giggled at the name, helping him to his feet. He reached out and grabbed her hand, his body tingling with warmth at the gentleness of the touch.
"She's down here," Hunny said, pointing toward the school. The older teen didn't seem to get it and merely smiled at him again.
"Alright, then, come on."
A/N:Ehh, I was bored one day and ended up writing this. :/
Intended to be a cute one shot, but a couple of people who've read this want me to extend it into a short series. What do you guys think? :D
