He found her on the beach, long after the sun went down, as the fires raged in the distance. Hell had opened up in a tiny town in Maine. Another apocalypse, another day. Willow shivered in the winter breeze. They hadn't seen one another in years, but fell into fighting side by side like it was 1999 again.
"I didn't think you would come," she said. Snow fell over the woodsy beach and onto her long red hair. "Thank you."
"I didn't mean what I said last time. You did come through in the end with Fred." Angel stepped beside her, gaze on the icy ocean, feeling more tired than usual.
Willow took his hand. "Well, I meant what I said, about you, about being a hero despite it all."
He smiled as they enjoyed a moment of peace in the chaos.
The waves lapped at the shore.
