FanFiction: Starfire and Red-X

It's over, Starfire thought, shivering, as she stood outside the club where her fellow teammates were laughing and dancing.

-Could really use a wish right now-

"It's over," Robin, the only man she had ever loved, had said, just moments before he welcomed Blackfire, her evil sister, to the team. Just moments before he had kissed Blackfire on the lips.

-Wish right now-

I've lost everything, Starfire thought, choking back tears. My family, my friends, my home...

-Wish right now-

Looking up at the midnight sky, she saw a light, flickering in the distance. Closing her eyes, head tilted up towards the sky, she began to make a wish.

-Can we pretend that

AIRPLANES in the night sky

I could really use a Wish right now,

Wish right now,

Wish right now.-

A sound jolted her from her peace and she turned around, starbolts lit, ready for a fight.

Red-X stood behind her, his hands in the air.

"I'm not going to hurt you," he hesitated, "so no need to fire."

Confused, Starfire lowered her hands, scrunched her brows together.

"Fire, what?"

"Never mind," Red-X answered. "I just want to talk," he continued. Lowering his hands, he walked up beside her and raised his eyes to the sky. "Beautiful night, isn't it?"

"Yes," Starfire whispered, looking back up at the sky.

"Where's bird-boy?" he asked, referring to Robin.

"Somewhere," she replied, tears beginning to form.

-Could really Use a wish right now-

Red-X turned to look at her suddenly. "We should explore."

"What?" Starfire asked, rubbing her eyes as she whipped around to look at him.

"Yeah. I know you've seen the city but you haven't seen it with me. So let's explore," he repeated.

She shook her head then sighed heavily. "Fine." What do I have to lose, she thought.

-Wish right now-

Red-X smiled and stretched out his hand towards her. Starfire, still unsure, slowly put her hand in his. Pulling her toward him, into his arms, Red-X pushed a button and they vanished.

Starfire had her eyes closed tightly when a voice told her gently to open them. Opening her yes, she glanced up, saw Red-x holding her close and pulled away. He pointed at something, and turning to look at it, she was amazed by what she saw.

"Now that, that is beautiful," she said in awe. Red-X smiled and looked at her.

"Yeah," he agreed. "Just beautiful."

She sighed and nodded, not realizing he was speaking about her.

"But how," she continued, "is it that I've never seen this before?"

"Well," he replied, "Maybe it was hidden away and only a few people know how to find it."

She smiled and turning to look at him, nodded.

"You're right."

"Of course I'm right," he said.

She chuckled. "Of course you are."

"You're tired," he said abruptly. "I should take you back now. Besides," he added, "the others are probably looking for you." Starfire smiled sadly.

"No, they're not."

"It's a long story," she said, cutting him off. He smiled, then raised his mask just so she could see the smile.

"I've got all night." He said, his hand outstretched once more. Starfire put her hand in his and leaned in so her lips brushed his. As he kissed her softly, once, twice, again and again, Red-X pushed a small button on his belt. As they disappeared, comforted in each other's arms, a small flickering light appeared in the sky, a sign to all those who believe, wished do come true.
