The Silmarillion is not mine, etc. etc. (shame...). This is dedicated to all of my favourite Silmarillion characters. It's a poem about changing the past. And finally, I'd like to say - thank you all very much for your reviews! ^_^

"Fight Against Fate: In Honour Of..."

Pain and anger, sorrow and lies
All the things that did arise
Stop the clock - turn it back
I want to take a different track
Change the play, re-set the scene
How else might your world have been?

Great deeds were done, it's true - but why?
Evil under clear blue sky
Heroes remembered in legends brave
For what little comfort that ever gave

Too many lives lost in grief
Too many people left to weep
Stop the clock - turn it back
I want to take a different track
Change the play, re-set the scene
How else might your world have been?

And yet you'd not be who you are
If life hadn't been this way this far
So without the pain, and without the grief
You'd not be he who I have seen

Remembered still in song and story
Sad tales with threads of wondrous glory
Should I try to turn time back
Make you choose some other track?
Would I change the play, re-set the scene
Destroy all that you have been?

Works of wonder; good also lies
Under your world's clear blue skies
To change the past would change today
All those wonders, gone - away!

The dark is strong, but so is light
Should I try to change the fight?
Should I try to turn time back
Make you choose some other track?
Would I change the play, re-set the scene
Destroy all that you have been?

If I change the past, you still would die -
Would never have lived under clear blue sky
Those I liked would still be gone
Not even memories left of anyone

So for all the sorrow, all the pain
I'd still live it all again
I could not, nor ever should, decide
Between you and another's life
The past is past, today is free
And the future is still yet to be.

Live forever in memory, brave ones of a wondrous world. I will always remember you.
