Life is Good

It was a cool summer's day, the sun was shining bright in the sky, kids were playing in the streets, and my boss fired me.

My name is Tamaki Suoh.

And I just got fired from my seventh job.

I rubbed the back of my hand on my forehead and squinted out into the distance where I saw some kids playing jump rope without a care in the world.

What am I going to do now?

I ran my long fingers though my messy hair and trudged down the street in the direction of the local coffee shop; then gave up about half way. I sat on one of the benches nearby and hung my head.

What do I do now?

I can't go home.

And I can't get a good recommendation for another job.

So what do I do?

"Hey Big Brother?" I looked up into the face of the cutest little girl. Her name was KirimiNekozawa and she was just the cup of tea I needed to cheer me up now.

"Why hello there Kirimi-Chan." I sent her a half-hearted smile.

She smiled up at me then dashed into my arms. "Big Brother you look so sad! Why?"

I half frowned half smiled. Do I tell her?

Why not?

"Well Kirimi-Chan I just lost my job. Again." I sighed a deep, heavy sigh.

She leaned back and frowned. "Well that doesn't seem so bad Big Brother."

I should have known she's too young to understand. "Well I need a job otherwise-"

"But you're just fine Big Brother!" She laughed. "You're big, and strong, and handsome!" Her small hand grasped mine and her big, blue eyes sparkled. "Don't be sad on such a happy day! You're here, and your healthy right?"

I nodded.

She could be so cute.

"So Big Brother shouldn't be sad! The world's not ending-you're handsome and strong!" She laughed and hugged me again. "I got to go now. Mommy's waiting for me." She waved goodbye.

"Goodbye Kirimi-Chan." I smiled and watched as she left, she had a point.

I was young.

And strong.

And handsome.

I looked up into the vast blue sky and let the sun beat down on my face.

The world wasn't ending, it was only beginning.

So I had some bad luck.

It happens.

I just need to shake it off and move on with my life.

Because life waits for no one.
