This is just a short one-shot.
I had forgotten that I had it and then remembered it after seeing a picture on deviantART.
So, this is for Lexan-kitty since I promised it to her. Here's your angst story. (I hope)
Disclaimer: I don't own the Ninja Turtles or any in this story. Just the plot.
It was always the last person you'd suspect. He never understood why that was. It just happened. Michelangelo was the last person he's suspect to be the second best fighter in the family; or Donatello being the most emotional when he had always thought it was Michelangelo. Now, as he stood over the unconscious and injured forms of his younger brothers, he faced the one whom had gone nuts. His katana wielding brother was grinning wildly. He wasn't even Leonardo anymore. He didn't know who this person was, but he wanted his brother back.
Raphael gazed at the person whom had once been his brother. He still didn't know what to make of all of this. Why was Leo like this? What had happened? As he dodged another strike from the deadly blades, he shouted, "Damn it, Leo! Stop it! You're attacking your own brothers!" "Brothers? I don't have any brothers! They're dead! It's because of you I was forced to kill them!" Leo cackled, a crazed look in his eyes. That's when Raph remember. It had happened two weeks ago.
Leo had come staggering into the lair in the middle of the night, bloody. Raph had still been awake when he heard his eldest brother come in. When he walked into the living room, his eyes widened. "Leo!" he cried as he caught his falling brother. He was mumbling something incoherently, but Raph didn't pay attention as he shouted for Donatello and Master Splinter. He managed to get Leo into the lab as everyone came running in. By now, Leo was laughing uncontrollably (and insanely in Raph's opinion). The red masked turtle watched impatiently as Don did some tests on the laughing Leo. Then the blue masked brother began to speak. "Dead. Dead. I killed them. They're finally gone. Dead. All dead!" After that, Raph, his brothers, and Splinter had kept an eye on him.
"Whatevah he saw made him go nuts! What do I gotta do to snap him out of it?" he thought frantically. He now had cuts all over him. They were superficial, but they still hurt. "Remember my sons, when a mind goes, it is impossible to bring them back. When that happens, death is a mercy." Splinter's words rang in Raph's head like twin bells. He couldn't kill his own brother! But looking at the madly laughing Leonardo, he knew that he had no choice. "While I thought that I was learning how to live, I have been learning how to die." That was Leo's favorite quote. It had been said by his namesake, Leonardo da Vinci. Raph knew he was going to be living with this forever.
Swiftly, he got under Leo's defenses and slammed his left sai into Leo's stomach, and the other into his heart. His older brother's eyes widened as he coughed up blood. Raph could feel the tears welling up in his eyes. Weakly, Leo lifted his head. "Thanks… Raph…" he whispered. The tears fell down his cheeks as he said, "Don't talk. Please." Leo smiled slightly and whispered, "I'm glad… it was you. You were the only one… who'd be able to do that. I'm going to sleep… okay?" Leo rested his head against Raph's shoulder and went limp. "Okay, bro. I won't let anybody wake ya," Raph whispered as he held his dead brother's body. He sank to the ground, taking the body with him, and let out a roar of grief.
