So, after three LONG years, I have finally finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows... pathetic, I know. For some reason, Snape's story affected me more than Harry's did. The fact that everything he did was driven solely by love is heartbreakingly beautiful to me. Anyway, I was so distraught after page 658, I decided to write something to make myself feel better. I know it's not the best that I've written- I wrote it in about ten minutes. I usually don't share one shots this short but it's Severus and Lily so I just had to share it.
Lost in Your Eyes
The green eyes found the black ...
The bleeding man fought to see through the darkness that had begun to cloud his vision, his warm, thick blood covering his throat and the hands that held him. Each painful breath felt as if a multitude of daggers were clawing at his chest. Trembling, his weak gaze landed on the face above him- pale, luminescent skin, a sprinkling of freckles across the nose, and two emerald green eyes hiding behind a curtain of dark lashes.
"Potter…" he breathed as he closed his eyes. No it couldn't be Potter for he could not see his own reflection in the boy's round faced glasses.
Eyes wide, he looked up, taking in the sight before him. A pair of green eyes- beautifully familiar eyes- gazed down at him, smiling. How he had longed to see that smile… It had been so long… too long...
Silent tears filled his eyes, blurring the vision of the woman he had loved. Always…
"Lily…" A whisper. A prayer.
"I've been waiting for you."
Her cool hands cupped his face as her lips lightly caressed his brow.
"Thank you, Severus," she smiled down at him and wrapped her thin arms around him, holding him to her breast. His crystal tears escaped from the confines of his dark eyes and fell onto the woman clutching to him. "You must be so tired," she sighed. "Come on, Sev," she pulled away and held her hand out to her childhood friend. "Let's go home."
His pain gone, his regrets washed away- Severus Snape smiled. Reaching out, he intertwined his hand with hers. They continued to gaze into each other's eyes, making up for the lost years, as a blinding, white light enveloped them in its warm embrace.
Lily Potter's son, Harry, stared down at the man who had protected him, silently, throughout the years and thought for a moment, that he saw a smile upon the man's pale lips.
The green eyes found the black... something in the depths of the dark pair seemed to vanish, leaving them fixed, blank and empty. And Snape moved no more…
