Disclaimer: NOT MINE

Selia stared at herself in the Crown Princess's mirror. She smoothed her long hair-more brown than blonde-and blinked her large blue-gray eyes. She was prettier than the Crown Princess, she knew that. Smarter, Princess Anidori-Kiladra Talianna Isilee was a simple, animal loving, oddment. She should not have been Crown Princess.

Selia would have made a better princess than Ani.

Selia had a way with people-they loved her. She was prettier, and more graceful, and more deserving- "Selia?"

Selia sighed. Ani was talking again. "What is it, Crown Princess?"

"Selia, what are you thinking of?"

Selia rolled her eyes. "Why, nothing, Crown Princess. What are you thinking of?"

"Oh, I'm hungry, Selia. Would you ask the maid to bring up lunch?"

Avoiding the question as usual. Perhaps she did not think. Maybe she had no brains. Selia clenched her fists and went to the door. "Janne," she called, "Janne, the Crown Princess wants lunch, please."

The maid nodded and scurried off.

"Crown Princess," Selia said, sweetly, "I wish…""Yes, Selia?"

"My mother hopes you will join her for tea. She does wish to speak with you. You will come, won't you?"

"Won't you?"

"I-yes. Yes, of course."

Selia smiled. She enjoyed making Ani do what she wanted, more than anyone else.

And deep inside her, she knew why. And it burned her.

Selia was jealous.
