Ok this is really bad but I wrote it a long, long time ago so forgive me. It's a Sam/Emily fic and is set at the end of episode four of season four when Emily's dad is in hospital.

"Hey Emily, how's your dad?" Sam called to Emily from across the lobby of Hotel Babylon. Emily turned from the door, she was holding the handle of her father's suitcase.

"He's going to be OK, well, not OK but he'll be able to go home in a few days time." Emily smiled weakly at Sam as he bounded down the steps by reception and approached her. "The doctor said it would have been a lot worse if we hadn't been there to help."

"It's a good thing you've got first aid training otherwise we'd have been up a creek without a paddle." Sam smiled, reaching towards Emily, taking her hand and squeezing it gently, "Emily are you going to be alright?"

"Um yeah," Emily sniffed, wiping her eyes and hoping she wasn't going to start crying in front of Sam, "I'll-I'll be OK, thanks Sam. For everything."

Sam smiled softly at her pulling her into his arms and cuddling her gently. "If you ever need to talk, just let me know."

"Yeah sure, thanks again Sam. I'd better get this stuff to my dad."

"Do you want a lift to the hospital?" Sam asked.

Emily looked shocked for a second but recovered, she smiled gratefully, "thank you."

At the hospital Emily gave her father his possessions and said goodbye. Just outside the door to his ward Sam sat twiddling his thumbs slowly. When Emily stepped out he stood and surveyed her, "how is he doing?"

"Moaning about the food apparently, not exactly five star standard, it seems. I don't think the nurses will be sorry to see him go."

Sam laughed, "come on. I'll take you home."

"Why Mr Franklin," Emily replied, "that's very kind of you" She took his arm and slowly they ambled down the hospital corridor towards Sam's car.
