Logan was certain that this looked ridiculous to anyone in the world whose names weren't Logan Mitchell and James Diamond. There he stood, gently running a comb through the back of James' hair as the other worked at the sides with his own nimble fingers.
It was ridiculous that he was even helping him in the first place, ridiculous that he now knew what "backcombing" was, ridiculous how close he was leaning in to the heat radiating off the taller boys shoulders.
But it wasn't ridiculous to Logan. It was the way James' body leaned slightly back into his as Logan replaced the comb with tentative fingers, the feel of that soft hair between his fingertips, the smell of something floral and clean that was beckoning him closer. It was sexy and intimate and enthralling, and anything but ridiculous.
Before he even knew what he was doing, he was brushing his nose against the base of James' neck, inhaling the mixture of gel and shampoo and Cuda man spray that smelled like everything right, everything forbidden, everything James.
He didn't even know that his lips had grazed that meeting place of skin and heavenly-scented hair until he felt James tense against his body.
"You just kissed me," James whispered, voice unnervingly calm in Logan's ears. He turned around to face him, and Logan felt his heart leap into his throat at the sight of the smirk on his face.
"Well, um...Your hair just smelled nice," Logan sighed sheepishly, feeling the blush spread across his cheeks and down his neck.
James shook his head in mock frustration. "So you kissed me because my hair smelled nice?" he teased, trying his best to stifle a laugh, though failing miserably.
Logan couldn't hide his laughter, his face scrunching into small, dimpled smile at his own expense as relief flooded through him. "Okay, it sounds ridiculous when you say it like that."
It took a second for Logan to realize that James wasn't laughing any longer, the reason why had something to do with the fact that his lips were now otherwise occupied. Logan could feel his smile against his mouth, just a soft touch of James' lips on his. It was light and pure and simple. It was just a new way for them to be happy together, the best way Logan could ever have imagined.
They pulled apart, and Logan placed a shaky hand over the one cupping his cheek, running his fingertips up through the cracks between the others finger, before laying his palm flat against them."You just kissed me," he whispered, hoping his breathless voice sounded more confident to James then it did to him.
James traced his finger along the lines of Logan's jaw, taking the other hand with him. "Your smile just looked nice," he replied, his voice barely a whisper.
"So you kissed me because my smile looked nice?" Logan teased, joining their hands together again against his shoulder.
James ruffled his hair with his free hand. "Okay, it sounds ridiculous when you say it like that."
But then he was kissing him again, and there was nothing ridiculous about that.
