Hello! Everyone just so you know that last chapter I forgot to put in about Shoka's parents and how he was born so I'm thinking of just putting it in later like as a story to be told to a young Shuurei. I was supposed to put it in before we ever got to Seien's life but I was so excited to get the last chapter up before Christmas. So instead of rewriting the huge chapter and having you all read it again I'm just going to do it that way and besides we really need to get out of the storytelling part and onto more action!
Also I thought I'd be able to update this faster but I've been pretty busy lately. Sorry. Thanks to all who reviewed, favorited, and alerted.
I've also broken my right humerus bone in my arm when my horse bucked me off. I landed on it and it snapped in half. It was at a ninety degree angle and it hurt immensely. It doesn't hurt now since it has been about a month since then, but I'm currently trying to write this with one hand.
I left his side and waited in the shadows. I watched silently as Prince Seien walked around a corner and almost bumped into a small beaten child. He looked down at the child and smiled at him and the smaller child beamed back up at him. I felt proud when he picked the child up and swung him around playfully.
"He'll be fine," I told myself and silently left.
"To ensure that the Hyō clan would keep their promise to cease fighting, Bara had accepted the condition of being their prisoner and with the promise that she would not escape. I went with her to ensure that they'd keep their word. However, there had been no promise of my safety and things happened to me that should not be mentioned.
"So cold, Yoru-Heika, I'm not here to start a fight. You may have killed my ancestor in the Great Battle, but I'm not here for revenge. I'm here because I have a proposition," he said slyly.
"What kind of proposition?" Bara asked skeptically.
"If you both are willing to be my prisoners, then I will not harm your people anymore."
"Why should we?"
"Because I hold enough power to wipe out all of the dragons in Val' hala and anywhere else they may be."
"How do we know that you aren't just lying to us?"I asked him threateningly. I sensed we were being watched and saw a ninja hidden in the trees. A Wolf of the Wind!
"There is no human-made weapon that can kill a dragon. You must be lying," Bara said.
He smiled wickedly and pulled out a sword and held it out to me. The sword gleamed and I instantly recognized it somehow. It felt familiar and then it hit me.
"Father," I said in shock.
Riō laughed. "That's right. This sword was forged from a tooth from your father's mouth as are two others that are in the possession of the emperor. Why don't we try and see how much potential this sword has?"
He swung the blade at Bara and I stepped in front of her to protect her. The sword sliced deep into my left shoulder and I hissed in pain. A normal weapon wouldn't leave a scratch on us dragons, but this was no ordinary weapon, it was a dragon slaying sword.
I knew immediately that he was telling the truth and I narrowed my eyes more and started to shake in rage.
"So about our bargain?"He asked with a smirk.
"I'll go with you but you must leave my sister out of this," Bara calmly said stepping in front of me as I clutched my bleeding shoulder.
"No!" I cried out to her.
"I'm sorry, but that won't do. Either you both become my prisoners or you could just let your entire race die out."
I sensed that the ninja had left, most likely to report back to the emperor. Good, I thought, He'll tell the emperor what's going on.
I growled again knowing that this man would not back down or change his mind. "Fine," Bara answered hesitantly. "But you are not to touch my kin."
He stuck out his hand and she took it and I winced when I felt a dark aura erupt around me. "Deal," he said evilly.
Vision ends- Yoru's POV
"Bara and I were forcibly separated once we reached the Hyou's land. I was taken to their secret structure. It was built to imprison captured dragons during the Great War. I was not the only dragon there as there was one already chained to the wall. She was sea foam green in color and had feathered wings. She was a member of one of the royal families!
I had stared in shock as she was somehow connected to the royal family. I was led to a chain next to the other dragon and it was forced onto my neck above the one I already wore."
I shuddered when I stopped my story for a while so I could take a breath. All eyes were on me and I smiled sadly as I continued….
"Riō stood before me and touched the chain collar on my neck and the dark aura that I had felt earlier crackled and tortured me. I screamed in pain and was forced to transform to my real form as a dragon which resulted in the pain to end. The collar had expanded when I transformed so that I was still chained. I pulled, but there must have been magic on it for I could not break the chain. I growled in displeasure, which only amused him more."
Vision starts again
Riō laughed as I roared my displeasure. The other dragon just looked at me in disbelief at my spirit, apparently her own had disappeared long ago. When our eyes had connected, she had quickly averted her gaze. I was livid and lunged at the Hyou man as he stared proudly at me. He left soon after and I was left alone with only the other dragon for company. I paced back in forth as far as my chain would allow. The other dragon watched silently as I seethed inside.
"Can't you just give it a rest?" a quiet voice emanated from the other dragon.
I turned and lashed out at her. She cringed and moved away.
Yoru once again looked off into the distance and sighed. "I regret to say that if I had been able to reach her, I would have killed her without hesitation. That was how murderous I was and I could feel the darkness within me starting to take over and I almost let it."
She looked over at the group watching her with apprehension in their eyes. She took a deep breath and let it out.
"I'm sure you're all familiar with my sister's story," she said to them, in which they nodded. "Good because I'm not going to tell much of her own story but of mine while we were imprisoned."
She took another deep breath and closed her eyes.
Riō would come each and every day to torture me. Using different torture devices each time, but I promised myself that I wouldn't break to him, but the tortures grew and grew as I grew weaker and weaker. The other dragon watched as I struggled to defy Riō.
As soon as he had left, she had asked me why I still defied him even though I was being harmed and said that the pain would stop if I just did as he said.
'I will not become that man's slave!' I spat out as I struggled to rise. 'Why did you abandon your dragon pride?' I asked her.
'I was taken as a youngling! What was I supposed to do?' she yelled back at me.
I stared at her. 'I'm sorry,' I told her truthfully.
She sighed sadly. 'I always wanted to return to my homeland, but what could I do? I was young and couldn't defend myself well enough. I did manage to keep my younger sister safe from their hands at least. But that was years ago, I'm sure she believes me to be dead."
I lowered my head in sorrow. "I'm sorry, Ataly."
She jerked her head up at her name. "How do you know my name?"
"It wasn't that hard when you know how many dragons went missing and knowing who your sister is."
"You know my sister," she said uncertainly.
"Your sister is Yumi, my mother. You're my aunt."
Ataly looked up into my eyes searching for deception, but seeing none she walked up to me and put her huge dragon head around mine in a dragon-like hug which I returned.
A few days later the Hyou clan chained Ataly and I to a cart and ordered us to go down to the mine where diamonds and other valuables would be put into the cart. As we pulled the cart full of jewels up the steep mountain for the tenth time that day, Ataly collapsed. I stopped and dug my claws into the muddy mountain so the cart wouldn't roll backwards and take us with it.
She breathed heavily and struggled to get back up. "No," I told her. "Stay down, you need your rest."
She reluctantly stayed down and panted.
"How far along are you?" I asked calmly looking down at her.
She jerked up and winced. "How did you know?"
"I just have this way of knowing things, like the fact that I knew you were my aunt."
She smiled knowingly. "I'm near the end of my pregnancy."
A short while later, a guard came over and I told him to unhitch her from the cart and I would do it all myself. She was taken back to the building and I dragged the cart up and down the mountain the rest of the day not giving myself any breaks.
By the time I was returned to the prison, I was weary and didn't notice any of my surroundings. Once I was chained back up and they left I collapsed and didn't move.
"Yoru?" a voice asked hesitantly.
I didn't move or reply.
"Yoru!" the voice said scared.
I moved my head to look at Ataly. She gasped when she saw my red eyes glassed over.
"Protect the baby, Ataly. Protect my cousin." With that I fainted and didn't wake up till the afternoon of the next day.
"I regret to say that while I was out, Riō had tortured Ataly and when I woke she was in labor. I had rushed to her side as she struggled to give birth. The baby was dying and so was she. I had to work quickly.
"Before long, the baby was born. It was a boy with hair like his mother's."
(Vision starts again)
"Can I hold him," she hoarsely asked, arms outstretched.
I smiled sorrowfully and placed him in her arms. She looked down at him with all the love a mother should have when looking at her child.
"You saw this coming, didn't you?"
I looked up startled. "You saw that I was going to be tortured. You had a vision, didn't you?" she said knowingly.
I lowered my head and dared not to look into her eyes. "I only saw bits and pieces, but that was years ago."
She just nodded. "Please take care of my son. Make sure he grows up strong and loved."
I jerked my head up and saw that blood was spilling out from her mouth as she smiled knowing her fate. "No! You can't die. He needs you to take care of him."
She slowly shook her head. "I can't. I'm dying; please make sure he's safe."
Tears started to pour down my face. "At least tell me his name."
"His n-name is Shīfōmu, it…it means sea foam which is the color of his hair."
And then she was no more.
"The child was taken from me not long after. I had fought to get him back but I was not strong enough against the whole of Hyō.
My grief overwhelmed me with the knowledge that I may never see my little cousin again.
It would be a long time before Bara and I would be rescued."
So how was it? Good? Bad? Confusing? Did I miss anything? Are you guys still there? Please let me know and review! Thanks!
