I loved him; I didn't realize until it was too late. Here it was, time to go. His green arms slid around my waist, and I knew, and there was no time.

Time had been against me since I'd arrived on this planet. My heart burned and burst inside my chest, lost to the alien who'd saved me.

My arms slipped around his shoulders, holding his small frame securely. It would be so easy, so natural to kiss him, his exotic smell filling my nostrils. But through my half closed lids I saw her watching, her expression easy to read – shock.

I couldn't do it. And I'll never forgive myself.
