"Daddy?" Jack asked, looking wide-eyed up at his father.

"Yeah, Jack?" Aaron asked, pausing in their walk down the aisle.

"Can I get a toy from the toy stoh?"

"Sure, Buddy." Aaron smiled. He had taken time off of work to be with Jack. Today, he had decided to take advantage of the time they had together and take Jack to the mall.

They finished up in Sears and then headed over to the other side of the mall. Usually when they went to the toy store, Jack headed straight towards the area with the action figures, but to Aaron's surprise, this time Jack went in the opposite direction, toward the dolls. With an eyebrow raised, Aaron followed. Jack spent about five to ten minutes looking, before he picked out a small water baby.

"This one, Daddy!" Jack said, grinning up at him.

"You sure that's the toy you want?" Aaron asked.

"Uh-huh!" Aaron shrugged. If it was what Jack wanted…

They paid for the doll, browsed around a few other shops, got lunch, and then went home. After filling up the doll, they sat down and watched the Lion King, the doll sitting on Jack's lap the whole time. An hour after the movie ended, it was dinner time and sure enough, when Aaron called Jack to the table, he brought his doll

"You like your new toy?" Aaron asked.

"Daddy!" Jack answered, reprovingly. "Her name is Amanda!"

"I'm sorry!" Aaron shook his head, trying to hide his grin. "Are you having fun with Amanda?"

"Mmhm!" Jack grinned, holding up his spoon to the doll's lips so that she could eat too.

They finished their food and then Jack ran off with Amanda. Aaron followed him to his room and was amused to see that he was tucking the doll in under the covers of his own bed.

"Good Night Buddy!" Jack whispered, kissing the doll on its forehead. "I'll see you in the morning!"

Aaron couldn't help it anymore, with a small laugh he went over and scooped Jack up into his arms. "So what got you started on dolls?"

"I need to practice." Jack answered solemnly.

"Practice what, Buddy?"

"When I grow up, I want to be the best Daddy in the world, just like you, so I need to start practicing now!" Jack said, nodding his head.

For a moment Aaron couldn't speak, then he kissed Jack on the top of his head and pulled him into a hug. "You're doing a real great job, Buddy."
