A/N: Before I forget, I accidentally committed an egregious trespass upon my favorite twi-hoor Steph! Last chapter, I was so focused on Rachel giving birth, I totally forgot to give her credit for her idea that I used. Those crazy twinnies putting dirt in their pockets, that was all Steph! So before I forget this too, thanks to FB buddy and faithful reviewer Karina for letting me steal one of her son Aiden's best lines for this chapter. Another important note, this chapter contains excerpts from Love You Forever, by Robert Munsch.
I know I said there'd be a couple more, and I can't believe I'm about to say this, but this is the last chapter of AGU part II. Yes, there will be a part III, but we'll talk more about that on the other end of this chapter. Enjoy...read slowly, make it last! ;)
I'd done it. I'd graduated high school. With five kids, and more than six years of married life under my belt now, I'd done it. It was so satisfying to have my parents, my kids, and my Jake watching. Everybody had come into town for it.
It had been a nice final year. I was pleasantly surprised that it went faster than I had expected. True, I'd had a heavy homework load, and more projects to do then I'd thought. But it came to a happy conclusion with my prom, which Jake had gone all out for, including taking me to a hotel for the night. Now, graduation day.
I'd been a little afraid I would fall in front of the entire school. I had to keep reminding myself, I'm a vampire! If I kill wild animals with my bare hands on a regular basis, I can walk across a stage. I received my high school diploma without incident.
When it was announced that we were graduates, I ran right to Jake. He took me into his arms and kissed me a little longer than he usually did in public.
"Congratulations," he said. "I'm so proud of you."
"Thank you," I beamed.
I said quick goodbyes to a couple of classmates and teachers. I wanted to get home and celebrate with my family. I felt just exhilarated, and ready to pull an all nighter. There would be no bed times tonight! Everybody was coming over to our house, and the kids could just wear themselves out, and go to bed when they were ready.
"You know, that dress looks like the one you were wearing the day I asked you to marry me," Jake mused, looking me over as we were in the car. I was in a simple white sundress, with white flats to match. I smiled at him as he gave my leg a squeeze.
Jake and I were the last ones to get back to our house. My family from over at the bigger house, my family in Forks, and the Denali's were already there waiting for me. I was greeted with a round of applause. Anthony had learned to whistle loudly for the occasion.
I hadn't seen any of the decorations or favors yet, Aunt Alice had kept them stashed away until now. Everywhere I looked it said, Congratulations Renesmee. It was written on the banner, balloons, the candy bars, and the champagne flutes. Aunt Alice had gotten plastic ones so the kids could join in. They all had fun drinking a non alcoholic punch Aunt Alice made that looked just like champagne. She even got a special cup for little Christopher.
"They call this a sippy cup, right?" she said when she gave the cup with the screw on lid to Rachel.
"Yes! Wow, thank you. This is so cool. Check it out, pumpkin," she said to Christopher in her arms. "Look what Alice got you, that says, Congratulations Aunt Renesmee!"
He kicked his feet and giggled at his new, very special cup. "Mine!" he cried happily.
I wore one of the five hand made gifts I'd gotten this morning before school, my graduation tiara from Swan. She'd painted it pink, and covered it in glitter. Caroline was quite envious.
We spent a lot of time outside, it was a lovely spring day in Alaska. We had two nets set up. One for badminton, and the other for volleyball. None of the kids had played either before. While Jake was showing the boys how to serve a volleyball, I showed the girls how to play badminton.
"It's a lot like tennis, but you use this." I handed Swan the little ball with feathers sticking out of the bottom. "Guess what it's called?"
"What?" Mollie asked.
"A birdie!" I said.
"Are you serious?" Swan asked.
"Yes!" I said.
"Nice," Swan said with an approving nod.
We had a ton of extra birdies, so I gave one to each of my twinnies, and Caroline to practice.
"The trick is, you have to hit it lightly," I explained. I threw my birdie in the air, and gave it a tap with the racquet, sending it over the net. "Like that."
My girls soon realized that like I'd said, hitting the birdie as hard as they could was not the way to go. Since this game wasn't really about strength or speed, Caroline caught on almost as quickly as her cousins did.
Since they had even teams, I left them to play and parked myself in the grass to watch. Asa, my shadow, came right over to me and plopped into my lap.
"Hi, Momma. I saw you graduate!" he said.
"I'm very glad you were there. Did you like it?" I asked.
"The singers were good," he said. "I liked the songs."
"Yeah, the chorus did a nice job," I agreed.
"Can we dance?" he asked.
"Sure," I said as we both stood up.
"I like music."
He was so big now, his baby days were far away. My little chubster, was certainly not so chubby anymore. The older he got, the more his features started to elongate, and the more he looked like Dad.
It's also fun in a whole new way when your kids are older. You can actually have a conversation with them, and really get to know them. Like most of the kids, he looked about twice his age. So at two years old, he looked at least four. He was like Swan, he stayed a little ahead of that rule. Anthony was usually right on it, and the twinnies a little behind it. There were a lot of random growth spurts though. It was hard to believe A.J. looked twelve, so did Swan. I guess it had been true for a while, but I really didn't look like their mother now. It made me a little sadder then I thought it would, but ultimately, who cares? Like Jake told me, even if nobody else can tell, I'm still their mom. Just like me and mine.
Asa and I danced, every so often he instructed me to twirl, he'd spin around, too. In a much more manly way though.
Inside, I got to open my gifts. I sank into the our couch with Asa by my side as every one watched me get spoiled.
Jake got me a teddy bear, dressed in blue, my favorite of our two school colors, and holding a diploma. Draped around it's neck was a tear drop sapphire necklace.
"I thought I told you that you buy me too much jewelry," I teased.
"That's not for you, it's the bear's," he explained.
"Well, thank you. I love the bear and her necklace," I said.
I sort of got jewelry from Mom and Dad, too. They got me a beautiful silver watch with a mother of pearl face, that I didn't know I wanted until I saw it, but I loved it.
Another of my favorite gifts was the five piece teal luggage set from Billy and Grandpa Charlie. It was just perfect coming from them.
After I opened all of my gifts, I spent some time talking with Grandpa Charlie.
"So, uh, do you think you'll go to high school again?" he asked.
I can answer that, right? He knew that was what we did. Daddy and Aunt Alice had graduated today, too. Just as he'd seen them do with my mom back in Forks. I looked quickly over at Dad, he was already smiling at me when I met his eyes, so I took that as a yes.
"Probably, but not anytime soon. I want to spend some more time with the short people," I said.
"Makes sense," he said, giving me a smile and taking a swig of the "Vitamin R" beer we'd made sure we had for today, mostly for him.
Mollie and Xandra trotted up to ask Grandpa Charlie if he'd caught any bad guys in Forks lately. As he told them the fascinating tale of a bad guy stealing coins out of a soda machine, I found myself studying him. I noticed the new lines of his face, the gray hairs that were slowly taking over. We need to spend more time in Forks.
As the evening turned into night, a rule had to be made, no drinking and dancing. The rule was for the kids, and the human adults too, after a couple of glasses. Okay...it was possibly, partially because of me. I almost had a little spill while enthusiastically dancing with Uncle Jasper to I Will Survive.
I found myself giggling as I watched Anthony dance with Kate. I love him with every fiber of my being, but he'll never win any dance contests. Swan on the other hand, was my little dancing machine. I watched her learn so many new moves that night from perfectly mimicking those around her. The twins dancing style was mostly jumping up and down. That suited Asa just fine, so he spent a good bit of time jumping around the house with them. Through the living room, up and down the stairs, and around the kitchen island.
By the time all the kids but A.J. were in bed, I was more then a little tipsy. Anthony approached Jake and me and asked, "Can I try some of that?"
"No!" I said.
At the same time, Jake said, "Sure!"
Anthony looked back and forth between us. "It's a special occasion, he can have just a little," Jake said.
"Okay, I guess so," I conceded. I handed him my glass and said, "Just one sip."
He took his one sip and said, "Very bubbly. Not bad."
"Do you feel very grown up now?" Jake asked.
My child just had his first taste of alcohol. Yikes!
Soon after he'd gone to bed, Paul made Rachel go too. She had a case of the giggles, and I was catching it.
"Come on, you drunk," he teased, dragging her upstairs to the computer room where we'd set up an air mattress for them.
"Wait!" she said, struggling out of his arms. "Where's the baby, I lost the baby!"
I burst out laughing. "You tucked him in up there hours ago!" I reminded her.
"Oh, yeah! It's okay, Paul. I didn't loose him," she said.
"I know you didn't. Come on, let's go," Paul said.
The Denalis ended up going back to the bigger house with my family to keep the party going. When all our guests were asleep, either over there, or here at our house, Jake got that look in his eye.
"Quit it," I probably slurred, as I was putting some of the leftover food in the fridge. I kept in my laughter, barley. I was going to make him work for it.
"I'm not doing anything," he said.
"Sure, sure." I took the long way through the kitchen, walking around the island to avoid him. "I'm going to bed," I announced.
"Okay, I'll come with you," he said casually. I walked a little faster then usual as he followed me. I crawled into bed, and heard him lock the door behind us. As I was still on my hands and knees, I felt him jump on top of me, flattening me against the bed. I squealed and pushed back against him.
"Shh!" he said laughing.
"There's too many people here!" I whispered as he put his hand up my dress to knead my rear end.
"We'll be quiet," he said, turning me over. I kicked my legs and giggled as he yanked down my panties.
"Shh!" he said again, still laughing at me. I finally managed to stop laughing when he suddenly plunged two fingers into me.
"Oh, God," I sighed, giving up playing hard to get and letting myself sink into the bed.
"You're so wet, already," he breathed in my ear. He wiggled his fingers independently inside of me, making me shudder, almost violently. He took it down a notch and gently stroked my walls. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer to me. As I closed my eyes, I felt his lips on my temple, and his quickly stiffening length pressing into my outer thigh. His lips traveled all over my face as he pumped his fingers.
"Jake," I whimpered.
I scowled when he withdrew from me.
"Aw, don't make that face," he said, kissing the corner of my down turned mouth. He pulled me on top of him so that I was sitting on his stomach. He said with a sly grin, "I've got something else for ya."
I snorted as he wiggled out of his pants. "That's perverted," I said.
"Nothing's perverted if it's your soul mate," he said, in a matter of fact way.
"Now take off your dress so I can look at how beautiful you are."
I crossed my arms and pulled my dress over my head. He reached behind me to unhook my bra. He made a little humming sound of approval as his hands glided around to the front of my body.
"You're so fucking hot," he breathed as he reached between us. Once we were lined up, I sank down onto him. I put my hands on his chest, and rocked quickly back and forth.
"Yes," I gasped. He reached up, and rolled my nipples between his fingers.
We were both panting already.
I gasped when he rose up to meet me. I stilled and clamped my mouth shut, trying not to scream at his upward thrusts.
I needed to have him even closer.
Clawing him in the process, I grabbed his shoulders and pulled him up. He put his hands at the small of my back, urging me forward. We rocked towards each other, matching up our rhythms easily.
He squeezed my shoulders, and slid his hands between our bodies. I leaned back just a little to give him access to my breasts. He held them with his big hands, and dipped his head. He brought one of my breasts to his mouth, and swirled his tongue around my nipple. I whimpered as he sucked, and wrapped my arms around his head, pressing him into me. I ran my fingers through his hair and listened to his muffled moans.
He lifted his face, and kissed me with such passion it made me shiver. I opened my mouth wide, and felt his warm breath rush into me, and I felt complete. We moaned quietly to each other. We met each other faster, and harder, it felt like we were racing. He let me beat him, but not by much.
"I love you," he choked out as we reached that finish line.
"I love you, so much," I returned.
He rubbed my thighs and we stayed connected as we kissed languidly.
"Ah," he sighed as we rolled onto our sides. "Did you have a nice graduation day?"
"Mmm hmm. Perfect," I murmured, nestling my face in the crook of his shoulder. "I was thinking about something though," I said as he trailed his finger tips lightly up and down my spine.
"Bout what?" he asked.
"What would you think about living in LaPush?" I asked.
"Really?" he said.
"Yeah," I said, lifting my head to look at him. "Now that those guys are older, we don't need as much help from immortals! They need to get to know the rest of the family, too."
"That would be great, Ness," he said.
"Maybe when they are almost done growing, we wouldn't stick out so much."
"It would be easier to stay sort of hidden there," he said, thinking out loud. "I mean on the rez, instead of in Forks."
"That's what I thought, too." We were quiet, both thinking for a few moments until I wondered, "How long do you think we'd be able to stay though?"
"I dunno. Anybody that knew your parents and all of the Cullens thinks, well, knows they are long gone. I think it would be safer for us now... I guess we could just go and stay as long as we're able. We wouldn't really have to put a deadline on it."
"Hmm. Let's talk about it more when we're sober," I said.
"Hey, I'm sober," he insisted.
"More sober then you, anyway," he said.
"Okay, I'll give you that much," I murmured.
In the morning, I was parched. "Need a little hair of the dog that bit ya, huh?" Jake asked as I was dragging myself out of the shower.
"No! No more champagne. Besides, I'm not that kind of thirsty, let's go hunting."
As our kids woke up, one by one, I told them to get themselves dressed for hunting. Swan came hunting with me all the time, so did Asa. It had been a while since the others had, they could use a little drink.
I set out a plate of fruit, some cereal, and set the table for our human guests, in case they should wake up while we were gone.
"If Grandpa Charlie asks, we just went for a hike, okay guys?" I told the kids before we left. "He would not like to know about us hunting." They all nodded.
"We are wearing our hiking boots!" Mollie pointed out happily, referring to herself and Xandra.
"Good job, girls. Perfect," Jake said.
Outside, we were greeted by a couple piles of wolves on the porch. In one corner was Pizza, Takoda, and Ophelia. In the other, was some of Jake's brothers who'd phased and slept outside in the nice warm night. Mollie ran right to Seth and started poking him in the side.
"Mollie!" Jake scolded her. "Don't scare him!"
"Oh. Look though, it's okay, I didn't." Seth was up and poking his huge muzzle into her side, giving her a taste of her own medicine.
"No sleeping for you!" Mollie said, giggling as Seth gave her a good morning lick. "You are coming with us!"
She and Xandra scrambled onto Seth's back, as Jake jogged around the side of the house to phase.
"No, Daddy! I wanna see!" Asa cried.
"All right," he said, coming back. "Go ahead, count it down, guys."
There were giggles of anticipation.
The air around Jake shivered.
He winked at me and then fur was everywhere, in the blink of an eye he was Wolfy Daddy. He whined and pawed the air.
"What?" I asked. He gestured behind him with his huge head.
"He wants you to ride on his back!" A.J. said.
"Is that what you want?" I asked.
He let out a yip, confirming. I shook my head as I climbed onto his back.
"You coulda just told me before you phased, you know," I said. He barked a laugh.
As we ran into the woods, Swan and Asa took the lead out front. Anthony ran beside Jake and I, easily keeping up.
"I get any carnivores!" Swan called.
"No! I like them, too!" Asa argued.
"First come, first serve you guys," I reminded them.
I could smell a group of elks, and I could hear them drinking water from a stream. Swan and Asa veered sharply off to the left, catching the scent as I had. The others caught it too.
"Do you think there's some big ones?" Mollie whispered.
"Yeah," Xandra whispered back.
As we approached the herd from behind we moved silently over the ground. This was the quietest the seven of us got, ever. So by the time the biggest male heard us, and let out a loud warning cry to the rest of the heard, it was far too late for them. Especially that one, Asa was hanging off his neck before he knew what had hit him.
I took a female for myself, the kids liked to compare who got the male with the biggest horns. When I looked up from her, wiping my mouth with my arm, Mollie and Xandra were drinking from a decent sized male that Seth had taken down for them. Anthony was working on his own small female, and Swan was already done with hers. She was dusting off the front of her clothes, and twisting around to inspect her back side. She hadn't gotten a drop on her, she'd become a very neat hunter.
"Have you had enough?" I asked her.
She nodded. "I wasn't all that thirsty."
"Momma! Do you see mine?" Asa called as he climbed on the antlers of the drained beast. "It's huuuuuuuge!"
"That's a nice one, sweetie," I said.
He counted the points out loud. "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven! Wow!"
It had been a satisfying hunt for all of us. When we got back to the house, most of our guests were wake and having breakfast.
"Well, well, well. Good morning, love birds!" Embry said to us with a knowing smirk.
Quil snickered with him. I just shook my head. This is mine and Jacob's house and we'll do as we please!
We all spent a relaxing day together, mostly watching movies and enjoying the nice weather in the backyard. People went in and out, in and out of the sliding glass door in the kitchen.
As Emily and I were talking at the kitchen table, Asa ran into the kitchen to make one of his daily announcements.
"Momma, I was in your belly, and I was like, hello hello!" he said, cupping his hands around his mouth. "Then I came out!"
"You're right, that's just how it happened," I said. He ran off again.
Emily burst out laughing. "What was that?"
"Daily announcements. He will just come into the room, say the most random stuff, then leave again. Yesterday it was, 'Momma, I like mashed potatoes. With butter on them'."
Too soon, my parents showed up to take everyone home. It felt like it took hours to thank everybody for coming, I was glad to have had them all here. I saved the hardest for last, Rachel. But with the way I grinned at her, she knew I was keeping a little something from her.
"What's your happy ass smiling about like that?" she asked, her own smile full of suspicion.
"Nothing! Seriously, nothing," I insisted. "I'm just really glad you guys came."
Jake and I would have to have a long talk with Daddy, and Grandpa Carlisle about going back to Washington. I didn't want to get her hopes up for nothing, even if mine already were.
I was sorry to see everyone go, I always was.
That night at bedtime, Anthony asked for something he hadn't wanted in a while.
"Will you read me a story?"
"Of course, go ahead and pick one out," I said, sitting on his bed.
He dug around the bottom of his bookcase, and pulled an old favorite of his, Love You Forever. That book is a real tear jerker.
"Feeling a little nostalgic?" I asked.
"I guess so. Do you think I'm too old for this book?" he asked, his face showing a little concern.
"Nah," I said, opening my arms to him. "Not if you still like it."
He crawled into my lap, and made himself comfortable. I read in a soft voice.
"A mother held her new baby and very slowly rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she held him, she sang:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be.
The baby grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was two years old, and he ran all around the house. He pulled all the books off the shelves. He pulled all the food out of the refrigerator and he took his mother's watch and flushed it down the toilet. Sometimes his mother would say, "this kid is driving me CRAZY!"
But at night time, when that two-year-old was quiet, she opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor, looked up over the side of his bed; and if he was really asleep she picked him up and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. While she rocked him she sang:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be."
I skipped the pages I usually did, and for the first time, he asked me why.
"Because that part of the story doesn't really apply to us. The mommy gets very old, and very sick."
"Does she die?" he asked.
"They don't actually say it, but it's implied so, yeah. But that's not going to happen to me. I don't think I can get sick, and I won't ever get old and die."
"Good. I don't want you to," he mumbled sleepily.
I kissed the top of his head and said, "I won't, I promise."
A/N: Well, there it is guys. Like I said, there is going to be a part III, that is for sure, and without a doubt. I've got lots of ideas, during my break I'm going to get them all organized. I will not be posting any full length chapters of AGU during my break, but I'll probably do some short outtakes. Like alternate POVs from previous chapters. I don't plan on doing any POVs I haven't done before, but if there's something along those lines you'd like to see, feel free to let me know. Maybe it'll spark something :) I'll be making a new "story" for that as far as is concerned, instead of just tacking them on to the end of this. So if you have an alert for AGU, it will not show up. If you are signed up for my author alerts, you should be covered. Maybe this will be my lucky day and every e-mail I get about readers signing up for alerts, and putting me in favorites, will come with a review too? ;)
Steph and I will still be keeping the FB page somewhat active, just not as much. I'll probably throw out some recs and let you guys know what I'm reading, posting pics and fan art we may have forgotten about, maybe some old favorite chapters, too. Maybe when it's almost time for part III, you guys will get some sneak peeks!
As far as part III, I'll tell you now I have no idea when I'll start posting, or how long it will end up being. But I can promise I'm not changing my formula, also that we'll see lots of Seth and Mollie as their relationship grows.
I'm not saying goodbye, because I'll be back. Remember, goodbye is a dirty word! Besides, I am kinda in love with FB, so I'll be around! Thanks so much for loving the short people (almost) as much as I do! That makes me so very happy. They are my babies! Love to all who've helped me with part II, including, but not limited to, Katie, Brodie Anne, Steph, and all who've encouraged me. Some of your ridiculously kind and thoughtfully written reviews have floored me, thanks! I think it's around to 2,000 now, for both parts, and only one bad one. As our little potty mouth Rachel would say, fuck her! lol
Til next time, be safe ;)
