For Ms. Havisham and her daughter

Because She wasn't Always Grumpy…

My first G.E. fic! (And probably my last…)

NOTE: regular font is Miss Havisham. Italics are Estella.

She wasn't always like this. Her heart hadn't always been broken, torn, ripped and smashed. Her life hadn't always transpired to be wasted away. And yet….

She used to love. She'd loved her mother, her father. She'd played with the regular kids, and never cared about things as fickle as true love. And yet…

…She was happy, oh so blissfully happy. He was her first love. Her true love. They made all the arrangements, got the dresses, the cake, the guests. There she was, standing at the altar. And then…

It all happened so fast. With her mother and father one day, her family torn and crumbled the next. The lawyer-man, the one that scared her, made promises to her mom, promises to get them out of trouble. And when he turned to her, there was a glint of relief in his eyes, and he was taking her away. Where was her mom? Her dad? He took her so far away, and then…

…She ignored the tears streaming from her eyes, the throbbing of her broken heart. She pulled all of the drapes over the windows, covered up the sunroofs, stopped all of the clocks. Her servants wondered what had happened, why their mistress stopped refusing food, water, to even change her clothes or eat the cake. . The truth? Her heart no longer accepted life, now that there was nothing to live for. Now she had one purpose in life. One. To make sure that this never happened to her new child. So that she would never feel the pain of a broken heart…

There was a huge, darkened manor. No sunlight seemed to enter the dismal place. There was a lady, a scary-looking lady wearing a wedding gown, that embraced her. The lady crooned to her, and promised her things. So that she would never feel the pain of a broken heart…

And so went her heart.
