a.n. Okay, this is probably the shortest story I have written to date, I saw the poem and couldn't resist :)

This is probably going to be the last fic you get from me for a little while cos I'm moving soon and I need to sort stuff out.

Beast boy had been typically complaining that he was bored to the only person who would listen. Though why Raven listened was anyone's guess. Whether it was over a moped or just not having anything to do she would always listen willingly. Well, for Raven willingly meant not leaving herself or causing the changeling injury, but he was grateful all the same.

"There's nothing to do! Why'd Cy have to go out?"

The empath remained silent, hovering above the common room floor, engrossed in her book. He wasn't really asking anyway, it was more of a rhetorical moan.

"Raven, you're ignoring me."

"Yes. I am."

He whimpered pathetically, "Why?"

She rolled her eyes at his failure to notice the contradiction. If she had been ignoring him she wouldn't have responded. "Because I have no answer to your question."

Beast boy pouted, "Well that sucks."

Raven sighed, "I'm loath to suggest this but why don't you read a book?"

"Cos... uh... hmmmm..." The changeling thought hard. "I-I don't have any books."

Raven rolled her eyes again. "Figures. I can lend you one of mine if you actually want to read."

"Yeah! I mean it's not like I've got anything to lose."

"I love your enthusiasm." The dark girl sarcastically replied, "Come on, as a one time deal I'll let you in my room."

"Dude, please don't tell me you've read all of these books."

"Okay." Raven remained silent as Beast boy examined the books on her shelf.

"Have you?"

His teammate remained silent and he turned to look at her, "So that's a 'yeah'."

She shrugged, "Now you know how I feel when I see all the video games you play."

"Huh." He said, "I never thought about it like that." Beast boy pulled a brown, slightly battered book from the shelf. "'Shakespeare's sonnets'?"

"Yeah, some of his most famous work. No one really knows who they were written for, they're all love poems."

"Cool." Beast boy started to flick through the book, much to Raven's surprise.

"I never though you'd be one for Shakespeare's sonnets of all things."

The changeling shrugged, not looking up, "I like to surprise people." He turned a page, scanned the poem and promptly burst out laughing, stifling it a little with one hand, the other holding the book at his side as his small frame shook with mirth.

"N-nothing Rae, I-I think I'll leave the reading to you." He said, still giggling a little before handing her the book and racing out the door.

The empath stared after him. "Weird." Out of curiosity she flicked through the book, finding the pressed page and alight smudge which showed which sonnet he had been reading. On examining the sonnet she choked.

'Those lips that Love's own hand did make
Breathed forth the sound that said "I hate"
To me that languished for her sake;
But when she saw my woeful state,
Straight in her heart did mercy come,
Chiding that tongue that ever sweet
Was used in giving gentle doom,
And taught it thus anew to greet:
"I hate" she altered with an end,
That followed it as gentle day
Doth follow night, who like a fiend
From heaven to hell is flown away.
"I hate" from hate away she threw,
And saved my life, saying "not you."'

a.n. You can probably see why I immediately thought of BB and Raven, it fits so well.

Please review. Reviews are excellent. And PLEASE nominate someone/somefic for the TT awards.
