I was sitting on my couch this evening, watching 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'( The Old Animated Version, not the one with Jim Carrey and whatnot).

I got bored, and started listening to Pandora, when "Guerilla Radio' came on.

And I happened to have had 'Swarm on the Somme' on my mind...

And this resulted.

The Monster of Mount Krumpet

Mayor Who basked in the moonlight at the window. He sat on the window sill, silent and resolute, keeping his gaze aimed towards Whoville townsquare. Only the bright blue moon lit the square, no Christmas Lights. It was quite beautiful, all the same.

However tranquil the scene looked, This Silent Night was anything but. Little Jane Who was screaming, tethered to the large fountain in the center of the square. She shouted, kneeled in the snow, and pawed at the ground, sat down on the edge of the fountain, and continued anew the round of struggling. The spectacle was most disturbing, but most assuredly necessary. People tried hard not to look out their window at the doomed child, The Mayor Who had failed to contain that urge.

So he glared out upon the deserted nub of the village. It seemed Jane Who had finally stopped struggling. She lay face down in the two feet of snow in the town square which had come about this night. the mayor thought, If she was dead, it was most assuredly a good thing.

Why did they do this horrible thing? The Easy answer: The Grinch, Monster of Mount Krumpet.

It began one Christmas when Sour Sweet Winds stared to blow, claiming to have seen the Grinch abduct a Rural Who Family. He had shown us all the evidence of this atrocity: Torn, bloody shirts. So we listened to him when he urged that The Grinch would destroy the town if a sacrifice was not given every Christmas. Ever since then, Mount Krumpet has been bright on christmas, what with the Grinch feasting upon our children...

Which leaves us to this day, Little Jane Who strapped to the fountain, likely dead on the ground. A soft breeze flew through town, and all shut their windows and locked their doors. He was coming. The Mayor kept the window open a slight bit, as to see the monster arrive. Lights from mount Krumpet turned on, and the gentle crunching of Snow came upon the wind. A Silouette wandered through the large gate surrounding the compound. whipping out a knife, He cut Jane Who loose. She didn't move...

as he dragged her up the mountain...

as he took her to his lair...

as her tiny bones snaped between the monster's jaws...
