Title: Searching for Rainbows
Characters: Sam Winchester and his daughter, Julia.
Disclaimer: I don't own Sam, more's the pity, but I do claim Julia. She's such a sweet girl. *hugs her*
Summary: My dear friend and writing partner, PlatinumRoseLady, prompted me with this:
Sam looking out the window at the rain, Julia all snuggle-cuddly in his arms. It's called "Searching For Rainbows." I told her I'd write a drabble for her. This is what I came up with.
Sam felt his heart clench at his precious daughter's words. He bent down and lifted her up in his arms, and sighed when she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek.
"Do you feel better now, Daddy?" Julia asked as she cupped his cheek with her small hand.
"Very much," Sam nodded. "Do you know what you are to me, on a day like this?"
"What's that, Daddy?"
Sam studied her a moment, then admitted, "You're like a rainbow that comes out when the rain's stopped. You brighten my life so much."
Julia turned her head and looked out the window, then pointed, "Like that, Daddy?"
Sam looked out and saw the rainbow that had appeared in the sky. The rain had stopped, the sun came out just a little bit, and a beautiful arc of color crossed over the horizon. "Just like that, sweetheart. You're like that rainbow to me. Beautiful."
The two of them continued to stand there, looking out at the rainbow, twin smiles curving on their faces, and Sam realized that the day was now so much better, because he was spending it with his sweet daughter.
