The young man stood eagerly awaiting the arrival of his lover. It had been a long time since he had last held him in his arms, whispered words of love to him. The warm breeze picked up his wild hair twisting it about his face, streaks of bronze glimmering in the sunlight. It was a little longer than his mother liked but there was nothing that could be done about that now.

"Is it time, dear?" his mother laughed, taking note of his restless behavior. He never was a patient boy.

"Nearly," he answered, a pang of guilt twisting through him. "Do you think he'll remember me?" He was suddenly quite anxious; what if his love had forgotten him? What if he had moved on? It had been awhile. He hoped his mother would love this man that set his heart racing. He heard a soft sigh from beside him and his fingers tightened around the small hand held inside his own.

"Edward," she said softly, "How could he not?" His father, old fashioned at heart, had taken a little longer coming to terms with his son's truelove. In the end they had agreed that as long as their boy was happy, it truly didn't matter who put the smile there, he had their unconditional love.

Edward had been so caught up in his mother's words that he had not noticed his lovers' arrival. He had not changed at all. The curly sun-kissed hair that skimmed the tops of his shoulders framed his face highlighting the twin pools of blue staring back at him. The intensity of that stare burned clear through to his very soul. Edward watched as his love's lips turned up into a breath taking smile, his dimples sending a jolt straight through to his groin.

Elizabeth felt her son's hand slide out of hers. She watched him walk, then run to the man in front of them, wrapping his arms around him as if he would disappear. Hands roamed over faces, shoulders, arms, chests and hips reacquainting themselves with each other. Tears of joy fell from their eyes, whispers of love, a meeting of lips. Softly at first, more demanding as the realization hit them.

Edward's mother turned away, giving the lovers a little privacy. She smiled knowing that she would soon meet the man who held her son's heart in his hands.

Carlisle heard the screams of his family as he witnessed his son being destroyed. They had lost Edward to the wolves less than six months before and while they had tried everything in their power to bring Jasper out of his downward spiral, nothing could sooth his aching heart. The soldier in him spent months waiting for the right moment to avenge his lovers' death. He then left for Italy desperately seeking the help of the Volturi knowing his family would never grant his request.

He silently prayed that his son's would find a way back to each other again.
