This is another one-shot done for the "iPod Shuffle Challenge". The song I got for this one is "Brand New Colony" by The Postal Service. It's a great song! You should check it out. Anyway...
"I wonder how it works."
"You just won't give up, will you?"
"Nope." I said, reaching out my hand to catch a snowflake. I turned to face him. "If you could shape-shift into anything, what would you choose?"
He laughed. "An otter."
I sighed. "Seriously."
Again he laughed, but didn't answer for a few seconds. I sat on the snow covered ground waiting for his reply as he lay back with his arms crossed behind his head, staring out into the grey sky.
"What are you thinking about?"
"You." He sat up and grinned at me. I looked away before he could see my face scorch, but it was too late.
"Okay, let me see..." His expression became thoughtful, but I could still see a glint of humour in his eyes. "If I could change into anything, I would become a pair of high heels so that you wouldn't have to strain to look into my perpetually beautiful eyes."
I began to laugh. Not only because that was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard him say, but because there was a huge flaw in his logic.
Between fits of laughter, I said, "Yes, but then you would be a pair of shoes."
"Touché," he replied, "Fine. I would change into a hot air balloon- because you know how hot I am- and we could fly across the globe, away from everything and everyone and start a brand new colony. We could give ourselves new names. I'll be Don Pablo and you could be Louise. No one could ever find us and I could kiss you all day long without worrying about my head being savagely ripped from my shoulders."
I felt the usual warmth spread inside of me as I threw myself into his arms and kissed him. He didn't hesitate one second in pulling me closer, but had his lips pressed so firmly against mine that I was afraid it might hurt when we broke apart.
"Sometimes I wish that, too," I admitted quietly as we lay there.
"One day, Louise," he said with a grin so wide I wouldn't dream of wiping it off, "One day."
Well, I hope you liked it, because I had a lot of fun writing it. Review please! :D
