red roses and black swans
The hero is stained.
When Kayuki was young, she thought in black and white - good was good and bad was bad, right?
Like any other child, she never questioned this mentality - and had never been given any reason to do so.
And so she dreamed of taking a sword and mowing down evil with her righteousness and pure force, she beat down the villains until they bruised and bled, and never once saw their tears.
She never looked back; she kept forward with a single-mindedness that blazed like the sun, but then burnt away her sharp edges and hard indifference
- and she finally saw the king who had tortured himself for a thousand years.
Meant to be an introspective piece.
