In Love's Defense
"Jasper!" Her soft, musical voice cried, as she tried in vain to pull away from me. "Someone will see us!"
"I don't care any more!" I raged, glaring around, as I held her tiny, black-clad body against mine. "Let 'em."
I felt her small hands clinging to my arms. Looking down, I met the wide, blue eyes that searched my face. I smiled lovingly at her, trying to get her to trust me. This tiny girl meant more to me than anyone, and I was tired of hiding it. It didn't matter to me that she didn't dress like my friends. It didn't matter to me that she didn't act like my friends. It didn't matter that she didn't sound like my friends. All that mattered, was that I loved the way she looked. I loved the way she acted. I loved the way she sounded. I loved... her.
"It'll be alright, darlin'." She smiled shyly up at me and I leaned down and kissed her sweet lips. "Fuck 'em if they don't like it."
My head shot up as I heard my friends loudly approaching. Alice let out a gasp and quickly hid behind me, her black fingernails digging into my arm. They came to a stop in front of us and I raised my chin in defense.
"I don't care what you guys think." I spat defensively. "Alice and I are together. I love her. If you guys don't like it, you can fuck off."
"It's about time!" Emmett hollered, laughing as he punched me in the arm with his fist.
"Yeah, numb nuts, what took you so long?" Edward asked, a grin on his face as he ruffled my hair.
I shrugged, my face showing my surprise. I saw a few shiny, black spikes out of the corner of my eye and realized that Alice was peeking out from behind me. I glanced down to see that her face was as surprised as mine.
"It's about time you grew a pair, Whitlock. What the fuck?" Rosalie growled as she grinned at me, and Bella nudged her with her elbow. "What? He thinks all this time we didn't know?"
Bella grinned as she pulled Alice out from behind me. "Welcome to the family, Ali."
I watched with glowing eyes as my friends embraced Alice, the most beautiful girl in the world and all mine. My heart swelled as I drank in her sweet, happy face. They'd accepted her all along and I'd been too afraid to find out. I'd finally stuck up for our love. My happiness was complete.
