All right, I think you guys know me well enough to know that I'm gonna post this story. So, since it's the Weasley twins' birthday, I have decided to do a little dedication/tribute type thing to them. Plus, I haven't written a happy/upbeat kind of thing for them since I wrote Fireworks. Sorry for the end, by the way... (Plus you've gotta know about the last line. 6+15= 21. Just sayin'. And the twins are turning 6 in this fanfiction.)
"Georgie! Georgie! Wake up!" said a persistent, excited voice.
George opened his eyes blearily to see Fred bouncing happily on the end of his bed, pushing on his feet. "I'm up, I'm up, Freddie!" he replied, laughing and sitting up eagerly.
"Guess what day it is?" Fred asked, grinning ear to ear, still bouncing on George's bed.
The twins grinned and announced "APRIL FOOL'S DAY!" Together they stood and leaped happily from bed to bed, laughing and laughing. They cheered happily and both collapsed onto Fred's bed, rolling with laughter.
"April Fool's Day is only the BEST HOLIDAY EVER!" Fred cheered happily, throwing his hands in the air gleefully.
"I KNOW! Remember last year, when we put Mum's permanent blue dye in all the soap bottles?" George asked, smiling and laughing.
"Yeah, that was the best one! Everyone else had blue hands for weeks!" Fred replied. "But remember the year before, when we sent Bill a cake full of worms?"
George laughed and said, "That one was brilliant! There's no defeating us! WE SHALL BECOME THE BEST PAIR OF JOKERS IN THE WORLD!" he announced loudly, standing up and leaping in the air. The twins jumped on Fred's bed, still laughing.
"Oh, I thought I heard you two!" A voice came from the doorway. The twins' mum was standing there, smiling widely at the pair of them. "Hurry up and come eat your birthday cake or it'll get cold!"
The twins looked at each other, and immediately burst into laughter again. "Oh yeah..." they gasped, finally remembering their birthday. They scrambled past their mum and out the door of their shared bedroom. They shot like bullets down the stairs and skidded into the kitchen. The twins plopped down into their chairs next to each other at the exact same time, grinning expectantly at their mother.
Mrs. Weasley carefully weaved her way into the kitchen, balancing a large blue cake on a platter on the tip of her wand, presumably with magic. Everyone else was already at the table, grinning at the twins and waiting to eat cake. Bill and Charlie had come home just for them, to celebrate.
Mrs. Weasley set the cake down carefully on the table. Six candles adorned its surface, burning brightly. The words Happy Birthday Fred and George! were written in curly script with green icing.
"Well, go on then!" Mrs. Weasley said happily. "Make a wish and blow out your candles!"
George closed his eyes tightly and thought, I wish for me and Fred to have every April Fool's Day together so we can play pranks for the rest of our lives.
He opened his eyes at the exact same time Fred had, and took a gulp of breath. He released the air, blowing out the candles with Fred. Everyone clapped and cheered as Mrs. Weasley began to cut the cake into pieces.
George wanted his wish to come true with all his heart.
It wasn't until April Fool's Day fifteen years later that he realized that wishes don't come true.
A/N- Again, sorry for the downer. I couldn't resist an opening like that... Happy Birthday Fred and George!
