Ha ha ha... another story. This isn't really a single story though.
I love oneshots. They only take a few hours tops to write and can be about anything. Plus you're not under any pressure to update a oneshot. So why have I only got like like three? I've decided. I'm making a collection of various 5D's oneshots. Lucarly did it loads of times (me thinks, I dunno, she's got too many stories to go through XD) so I figured, 'what the heck.'
The insparation for this one came from the weather. Yes, the weather. It was raining this morning, as per the norm in Ireland and it was kinda depressing. So, I ddecided to try and make the rain not depressing. The result: see for yourself
I walked the wet pavements of the city. The rain was so fierce, I couldn't see two inches in front of my face without everything blurring drastically. I was shielded from the rain by my umbrella, but the vicious wind was trying desperately to change that. It was also somewhat of a pervert, seeing as it wanted to blow my skirt up over my ass.
He rushed by then, a streak of red and white, swerving expertly through the sea of cars and swearing taxi drivers. He stopped abruptly and pulled over beside me and pushed a button on the side of his helmet, making his visor go up so I could see his eyes. He looked at me with his usual poker face. Perhaps this is why he would always win. He'd pretend not to care even if he had an amazing hand.
"Can I offer you a ride?" Yusei asked me, his voice as expressionless as his face. I could see he'd forgotten to shave this morning as a dark fuzz had formed on his chin and jaws. Not surprising though. The eighth annual W.R.G.P was starting in three months time and he'd been working on his, Crow and Rua's D-Wheels nonstop. They'd asked me to join, but I hadn't turbo duelled in years. Besides, how bad would that look, what with me being some medical prodigy, engaging in possibly the most dangerous pastime out there.
I had returned to Neo Domino after I'd finished studying abroad. I told everyone it was because I missed them, but the true reason was here in front of me. And he was still waiting for me to reply.
"Yeah sure," I told him hastily. I must've looked quite stupid just standing there. He moved up a bit so I could swing my leg over the D-wheel and sit behind him. My hands became a vice around his waist. He saw I was seated, albeit uncomfortably, revved the engine and sped off, provoking yet another round of colourful swears aimed at us.
He asked me where I was going and I told him my house. He could stay if he wanted. I wasn't going to send him away in this weather. We pulled up in front and I got off. I directed him to the garage. He got off at the entrance and moonwalked into it. Show-off.
We ran into the house, both of us half under the umbrella. I turned and slammed the front door shut behind us, while he removed his boots and left them on the mat. I did the same with my shoes and we walked into the kitchen, where my eyes travelled to a small scrap of paper on the table. I snatched it up and read it:
An old friend of ours is very ill and in a hospital up the north of the country. We've gone up to see him and we are staying there. We should be back tomorrow evening. Sorry for leaving on such short notice. Dinner's in the microwave.
Papa & Mama.'
They'd abandoned me again. I didn't mind though, I was used to this, Papa often had important meetings to attend all over the country and Mama usually went with him. Besides, I wasn't a little kid anymore. Heck, the only reason I'm staying here is because Papa had insisted on making up for lost time. I turned to Yusei and saw him leaning against the door frame, dripping wet, creating his own personal lake in my house. I'd have to mop that up if I didn't act fast.
"They've gone away for the weekend," I told him, knowing he would assume 'they' were my parents, "Come on upstairs, and I'll get you dry clothes and a towel." The corner of his mouth twitched in his thanks. I started up the monstrosity of a staircase, with him trailing behind me. I went into my parent's room and grabbed a button down shirt and old jeans from the wardrobe for Yusei. I handed him a towel and sent him into the bathroom to get changed.
"Thanks," he muttered softly, and locked the door behind him. I proceeded to my own room, threw off my wet clothes and put on a white tank top and black tracksuit bottoms. There was a faint knocking at my door.
"Come in," I called. Yusei timidly pushed the door open.
"Hey, Aki?" He started
"Remember that night a few years ago, the night before everybody left, you tried to tell me something. What were you trying to say?" I remember what I said. I was about to confess my feelings for him. But I didn't. Because I knew if I told him and then left, it would seem cowardly. I mightn't express it to such extremes, but I had enough pride to rival Jack Atlus'.
"Nothing!" I protested, "I told you everything I wanted to."
"Stop lying to me, it hurts" He whispered. I gasped silently and my eyes widened. How did he know?
"I can see it in your eyes, Aki," he answered my unspoken question "do you love me?"
I swallowed, hard. Confession time.
"Yeah, I've always loved you Yusei. I mean, without you where would I be right now? Definitely not here, that's for sure. You showed me another side to myself, the side with all the humanity, apparently," I scoffed ", I would probably still be Divine's little tool of death and destruction, not feeling remorseful at all for the people I hurt." I was about to launch into another sentence, when I felt his freezing, wet lips press against mine.
To think, without the rain, where would I be right now? Definitely not here, that's for sure.
I'm taking requests or whatever. The vocab/ grammar in this probably sucks because I rushed the end a bit. The title of this collection is going to be named by the title of this story and the next one shot I do (Current title: Rain and...) so if you want your Idea as a title, get it in quick. If not, I get really bored in school, so I can come up with something myself.
