Title: So Much Better
Spoilers: None, really.
Disclaimer: They're not mine.
Summary: "Why me? You can do so much better."
A/N: My friend Sarah (misguidedchoices) gave me the prompt, "You can do so much better."
"Scully, but… why me? You can do so much better. Not that I'm complaining or anything, but Mrs. Spooky doesn't have that great a ring to it." Mulder tried to joke, to lighten the situation.
Scully gazed up into his eyes and he knew he couldn't fight off his feelings for her. They had been bubbling just underneath the surface for almost as long as he could remember. He only wanted the best for her, to make her happy. Could they even ever be happy?
"You, Mulder. Because the past couple of years of my life have been hell and you made it bearable. I'm sure that neither of us would be standing her today if it weren't for the other." She paused. "And besides, I think Mrs. Spooky sounds perfect." She smiled up at him, genuinely. This was really happening.
Scully glanced to Mulder's lips and back to his eyes. He wrapped his arms around her, as did she to him. He stared back into her crystal blue orbs and saw nothing but love, showing the same ot her in his own.
He leaned down and she went on her tip toes to compromise. Compromise. Something that they were already very good at.
Their lips touched and they could have sworn a bolt of electricity passed through them.
As the tender moment passed, they broke apart and leaned against each other, still in an embrace.
"Remind me again why we didn't do that sooner." He whispered in her hair.
"Someone thought I could do better." She said smirking up at him. "I'm glad to say that once again I was right."
She then pulled him down for another kiss.
