A/N: This is labeled Goren & Eames although Eames never really speaks. It's short but direct.

Detective Bobby Goren looked up at his partner's apartment building. It loomed ominous above him. Finally he managed to tear his eyes away to glance at the bag of Chinese takeout and the largest bag of Skittles that he had been able to find that lay on his front passenger seat. He took a deep breath, killing the engine and grabbing the bags. He climbed out and looked up again.

She wouldn't be happy to see him, but he owed her an apology. He could be an ass most of the time, and he knew it. Taking that first step toward the building, his feet felt leaden. The next one came easier. As did the one after that. He now stood at the elevator that would take him up to her fourth floor apartment.

He pressed the up arrow before he lost his nerve. When the doors opened, he smiled at a young couple that was taking their dog for a late evening walk. He climbed inside and pressed the four button. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other as the elevator climbed slowly to its destination.

The soft ding of the elevator doors had him almost sprinting out of it and down the hall to the left. Two doors. Then there was hers. She had hung a small welcome wreath that he knew had been made by her sister, Liz. It felt so warm, so inviting. So different from her other place. He shifted the takeout bag and Skittles to one arm and knocked quickly. He only hoped that she'd be so welcome and warm with him. But not that he deserved it.

He looked up as the door opened. She stood before him, drying her hands on a towel. She didn't say a word, just looked at him. He knew she was trying to figure out just what he was doing there and what he hoped to accomplish. Her eyes never wavered from his. She held his gaze for a long moment, then she looked at what was in his hands.

"Peace offering..." His voice had come out steadier than he felt. He was grateful when she stepped back and widened the entrance into her home. Things would be back on track soon enough. And he would make damn sure they stayed that way.

A/N: I know this is incredibly short, but that's what the muse wanted tonight. Please let me know what you think.
