Addison paced back and forth in front of the bathroom. She couldn't remember a time when she had been anymore nervous. She took a deep breath and willed herself to slow down, but the anxiety just took back over.
"You're going to wear a path in the carpet," Callie said slowly from her spot on the bed as her eyes followed Addison's every step.
"I, I can't stop. What if, what if its negative? What if..." Addison started but was cut off when Callie stood in front of her.
"Addie, you can't think like that. This will work. It will work," Callie smiled, her hands framing the red head's face.
"But what if it doesn't? I can't lose another one," Addie said with a sad look on her face.
"You won't. And if it doesn't work, we can try again. We will try again," Callie promised her.
"I love you," Addie said, placing a light kiss on her girlfriend's lips. Callie smiled as she pulled away.
"I love you, too."
They both looked towards the bathroom as the timer went off, signaling the end of three minutes. Addie felt her breath catch in her throat. This was it. This was make it or break it time. What lay in the bathroom could possibly change their lives inevitably. She felt Callie lightly squeeze her hand before she disappeared into the bathroom.
Addison waited with bated breath for the news. Good news or bad, it didn't matter. She just needed for Callie to say something because the silence was more deafening than either answer could be.
Her eyes met Callie's as the Latina walked out of the bathroom.
"Callie?" she asked quietly as she tried to read the emotions on her girlfriend's face. Callie didn't say anything, but instead she handed the pregnancy test to Addison. Addie took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself for either the happiest or the worst day of her life.
She glanced one last time at Callie's unreadable face before looking down at the stick in her hands.
Tears filled Addie's eyes as she gulped for a breath. Her hands started shaking as her vision was obscured by the unshed tears. She vaguely felt Callie move towards her, their foreheads resting against each other.
Addie wrapped her arms around Callie, her face burying in the brunette's neck as sobs racked her body. Callie pulled back, wiping the tears from the red head's eyes.
"We're going to have a baby," Callie whispered, a smile lighting up her face.
"We're going to have a baby," Addison smiled and pulled Callie back into her arms.
