ONLY YOU CAN MEND MY BROKEN HEART
Chapter 1: Return
I ran at full speed through the forest, as fast as my legs could take. I was a dying man without her. I would do anything she'll ask me now, just for her forgiveness, for her to take me back. I would be what I told her I would be after our perfect day in the meadow, her prisoner.
My phone buzzed in my pocket, but I ignored it. There's nothing more important than her, Bella, my Bella. There's a chance that I may not able to call her mine now, maybe she has moved on as I had intended, but I'll take the risk. I need to see her. I need her to tell me to go away. Even then I know I will not leave her, just stay in the shadows. I can't live without her.
Finally I broke through the trees and came to my destination. But what I saw made my heart stop, or would have if it was beating.
The land where the Swan house was a few months ago, was empty and barren. Though there were remnants of a burned house there, but it was hard to tell that there once was a house.
What happened here? What happened to her? And Charlie? Is she alive? If yes, then where is she? Or is she…
NO! I couldn't bring myself to even think about her not existing. It was beyond agonizing. Just the thought of that thought burned me. I'd take the pain of transformation a thousand times than think of this world without her.
But what happened here? Was this an accident or someone did it on purpose?
Where is Bella right now?
I don't know how long I stood there, like a statue. I walked toward where the tree near her window used to be.
I felt ground beneath my knees, and a loud agonized scream. It took me a moment to realize the scream was mine.
If I had never left…
I stood up immediately. She's alive. She's somewhere. That's what I will believe. And I will find her. I will not waste another moment. Just then my phone buzzed again. I picked it up saw Alice calling me. I pressed the send button and put the phone on my ear.
I tried to speak 'hello' but no voice came out. My mouth formed the word, but there was no sound to accompany it. There was silence on the other line as well, until she spoke softly.
