Disclaimer: All characters belong to L.J. Smith. Although the lyrics don't appear in the story, the song "Sparks Fly" was written by Taylor Swift. It is off her third album "Speak Now." I don't own anything.
Author's Note: This year my goal is to write a fanfiction for every song off Taylor Swift's album "Speak Now." Do to the amount of favourites, reviews, and alerts, I have decided to make this a sequel to Dark Princess.
Time: The Vampire Diaries: The Return: Shadow Souls
Genre: Romance, Drama, and Angst
Date Finished: May 13, 2011
"Elena," Damon whispered. "Don't worry, we'll find him. We'll find if, even if it's the last thing we do."
She reeled over to him. "Promise?" She had tears in her eyes.
He leaned closer to her so that their foreheads were touching. "Promise."
He was a bad idea, but it didn't matter. None of it mattered. Her mind forgot to remind her that he was a bad idea. That night was really something in her mind. That night the sparks flew as he rescued his Dark Princess from her depression He was still the Dark Knight. Even though he hated the Dark Prince, he was just happy to see her happy.
Even if it met that he was going to get hurt.
Pain was just a fact that he was going to have to deal with. Pain came with love. Pain came when the sparks flew.
Just like the sparks fly...
He loved her and she loved him, but she would never leave his brother. He would just sink back into the shadows forgotten in time. They would go on loving each other and he would become an one night stand.
It was a night he would never forget. Out of all of his lovers, she was the one he care about the most. Loving her hurt, but it didn't matter.
He was on his guard for the rest of the world, but none of it mattered with her, his Dark Princess. When he was with her it was like there was nothing left in the world, but them. Yes, it was a case of forbidden love, but with their guard up to the world, it didn't matter.
He wanted her to give him something that would haunt him when she wasn't around. He wanted her to drop everything and meet him in the pouring rain. He wanted her to kiss on the sidewalk. Mostly importantly, he wanted to see sparks fly.
She needed to get him with her blue eyes. She needed to haunt him as the lights go down. He needed to see the sparks fly.
"You're hurting," Elena whispered. "I can see it in your aura."
Damon smiled. "That's kind of creepy, that aura reading thing."
"It's no stranger than turning into a crow."
Damon looked away. "This thing between us isn't going to work."
"I know. I have to go back to Stefan."
He wanted her to run her figures through her hair. He wanted to lead her up the staircase and whisper something sweet in her ear.
Most importantly he wanted the sparks to fly.
But he was the Dark Knight.
Life wasn't like it was in the movies. The Dark Knight doesn't get his Dark Princess. The Dark Princess always returns to the Dark Prince. She left the knight wondering and in pain about what could've been.
She leaves him longing for the sparks to fly once again.
