Summary: 8½ years after NFA Xander and Willow run into Booth on the street in Washington DC.
A/N1: I have not watched Bones; all I know about the show is what I've read online.
A/N2: Remembering how protective the Scoobies usually were for each other, I thought this would surely be their reactions if Willow and Xander ran into Seeley Booth.
Xander is waiting for Willow outside Lord & Taylor, an upscale, specialty-retail clothing store with a branch in Washington DC, when he looks up and sees what he thinks is Angel coming down the street only a few yards from him. He rushes up to the man and says excitedly, "Angel, man, what are you doing in DC? We thought you were dead. Why didn't you let Buffy know that you were all right? She has not been the same since she heard that you died. How could you do that to her, man?"
Seeley Booth is startled by the strange man and replies, "Look, I don't know who you think I am, but I don't know you."
"Angel, it's me, Xander, remember, from Sunnydale?"
"I don't know you, Xander is it, and my name is Seeley Booth, not Angel and I've never been to Sunnydale. I don't even know where that is."
By now Xander is getting riled. "I don't know who you're trying to convince yourself that you are, but I know who you are Angel, and it was damned cruel of you to let Buffy think you were dead."
Booth tries to interrupt him, but Xander keeps going.
"Tell me this; do you have a tattoo?"
"Yeah, what of it?"
"On your back, just over your right shoulder?"
"Yeah, a bird of some kind."
"It's a gryphon; it's holding the letter A in its talons?"
"Buffy told me about it. How would I know about it if she hadn't told me?"
"I don't know; hell you could've seen me at the gym or something."
"This is my first day in DC and I don't use a gym."
Willow walks up from behind Booth, facing Xander and says, "Sorry, Xander, it took me longer than…Oh gods, Angel." She throws her arms around him and hugs him. "Where have you been? We thought you were dead."
Booth is getting exasperated at this point. "How many times do I have to tell you people, I'm not Angel; I'm Booth."
Willow turns to her friend and asks, "Xander, what's going on?" She turns back to Booth and says, "Angel this isn't funny. After all these years, Buffy has never stopped loving you. She still wears the Claddagh ring that you gave her on her 17th birthday, because to her she's still married to you."
Xander is mad now. "Let it go, Will; let him go on pretending that he's somebody that he's not. Let him go on living his wonderful new life and forget about the people that he left behind, the woman that he left behind."
He glares at Booth, "The problem is, Angel, the past always comes back to haunt you and I hope yours gives you nightmares for the rest of your fucking life."
He takes Willow by the arm, "Let's go, Will."
Booth watches them walk away and wonders to himself, 'What the hell just happened?'
