Author's Notes: For those of you who slept through tenth grade (that's sophomore, for my American friends) English, a sonnet is a poem of fourteen lines, written with three verses of an ABAB line scheme, then ending with a rhyming couplet. They are written in iambic pentameter, ie they go "da-DUM, da-DUM, da-DUM, da-DUM, da DUM". Shakespeare wrote a lot of them, mostly love poems.

But you don't care about any of that. These are poems by/for my three favourite characters in the universe: Narcissa, Andromeda and Bellatrix.

Don't own, J. K. Rowling does.

The baby of the family is adored

Petted, coddled from the day she's born.

I don't know what it is to be ignored,

I am the world's rose without a thorn.

My beauty was my one defining trait;

I'm named for it, and for my vanity.

My sisters called it cruel twist of fate

That looks were all anyone saw of me.

For all this one would think me ungrateful

For all the luxury of my sweet life.

I'm not, but with my way I would be called

Something more than fair sister, daughter, wife.

So if God to my praying should awake,

My craving is to be known for my sake.

The second sister is the family's heart

Embodiment of what they know and love.

When all else threatens to drive them apart

I would be the peaceful herald dove.

I did not rise to bait, nor fight for show.

My sisters rose and I would ease them down.

I had but friends, and not a single foe,

Yet I was not fit for my namesake's crown.

You spoke of romance, love forevermore–

It was only freedom that I craved.

You did not know the burden that I bore

And by you I was unwillingly saved.

I swore myself that someday I'd be free.

I didn't know the pain it would cause me.

The eldest sister bears the greatest weight

Of acting with filial piety.

How could I help but slowly grow to hate,

Reminded of my duties constantly?

Is it therefore, some mighty surprise

That I would someday stray from your sweet path,

To ruin all the people I despised

And take, as I saw fit, the aftermath?

I chose a path of darkness, that is plain

And yet found everything I wanted there.

Reveling in sweet black love and pain,

It is a dark and beautiful affair.

My passions by the sinister incited.

My only wish, dear Lord, to be requited.
