- Chapter 1 : Changes -
Changes began to happen around in New Salem. Portia had officially moved AWAY from New Salem, to Cassie's relief. Diana had given up her boyfriend to her best friend, and Nick was craving for is ex-girlfriend. Cassie was still sort of shocked and upset the fact that Diana had given up Adam, and given him to her.
Cassie could tell Diana was desperate for Adam. Although Cassie felt guilty for stealing her best friend's boyfriend, she was still happy that she had the love of her life beside her, and closer to her. Nick, on the other hand, became old Nick. Without Cassie around, he felt like there was nothing exciting in his life.
"Hey! Guys, cut it out!" demanded Diana. Nick and some jock were in a fight, and currently, Nick was winning. Nick ignored Diana, and started rugby-tackling the jock, who became unconscious. Nick then walked away as if nothing had happened. Diana sighed, and gestured Nick to talk to her privately.
"What's wrong?" asked Diana
"What do you mean?" snorted Nick.
"You've been getting into a lot of fights lately," explained Diana, trying to prove her point. But Nick wouldn't listen.
"Look Diana, it's nothing. It's just those outsiders are so retarded. They're always the ones that start it!" reasoned Nick.
Diana stopped trying. She knew no matter how many attempts she could try to get something out of Nick, she wouldn't be able to. Nick would always win. But she tried one final attempt.
"Nick," she said, soothingly and gently, "I know it's about Cassie."
Nick flinched when he heard Diana say that name. Diana continued on speaking.
"I feel the same way, but with Adam. But you've got to let go," she said.
"So what about you? Have YOU moved on?" retorted Nick, whose question took Diana by surprise and sadness.
"I'm trying to," she tried explaining.
"You're TRYING to, but you CAN'T," corrected Nick. He walked away from her, to his next class. Diana didn't bother chasing him. All she could think about was Adam.
