Chapter One: Preparation

Rain moaned as her mother gently shook her awake. "Rain, honey, it's time to get up." She opened her eyes groggily. Everything was blurry. She blinked a few times to clear her eyes and looked at the clock. It read 6:00 AM. She turned to her mom and groaned. Her mom, Charity looked down at her. "Honey, you have your yearly physical, you have to help out at the day care, you have a crafting class, you have a cooking class, you have to shop for your sister's birthday, you have to get yourself some new school clothes, you have to babysit your little brother, you have to celebrate your sister's birthday, you have to finish your homework assignment, and you have to get to bed in time to get a good night's sleep for school tomorrow!" She said. Rain sighed. Why did she plan such a busy day? She looked at her schedule while she rubbed her eyes.

Rain was shocked. She turned to her mother, but she was gone. She sighed and walked over to her dresser. She picked out a navy blue cami under a light blue cardigan sweater, accompanied by a black knee-length skirt, zebra striped knee socks and some black and pink sneakers. She brushed her fur carefully and then slipped the outfit on. She brushed her teeth and then put a cute sky blue fisherman's hat. She walked out to her living room and looked at her parents. Her father, Alexander, looked at her outfit. "Is that skirt long enough to wear without tights?" He asked. "Yeah, dad, it's down to my knees." Rain said. "It looks too short." He responded. "It's not." Rain replied. "Look at Cheri! Hers is a mini-skirt and she doesn't even have tights on!" Alexander sighed. "Alright, Rain." Rain smiled and looked at her mom. "Let's get going." She said.
