"You have such beautiful hair." River said quietly, smiling to herself as she ran a comb through Amy's long red locks. Amy's hair had gotten tangled and matted, due to the fact that well, when you're travelling through all of time and space, you don't really have time to brush your hair whenever you need to.

Amy smiled at the compliment, not even being too bothered by the pinch of the comb pulling out her knots. She was just happy River was close to her. Ever since she had met her, she'd been entranced by her. She was so mysterious, and beautiful... Amy just wanted to be near her all the time, to know more about her. But she would never tell River that. Amy was, for the most part, happily married. And River and the Doctor obviously had something going on... what exactly, she did not know. She didn't bother asking because she was afraid that River would say that she's been in love with the Doctor her whole life, and then Amy would realize there'd be no hope for River having feelings for her. So she just kept quiet.

River noticed that Amy was deep in thought, the younger redhead chewing slightly on her bottom lip while staring at nothing in particular.

"You alright, Pond?" she asked as she continued to brush out the last of Amy's tangles.

Amy snapped out of her daze and looked up.

"Yeah, yeah, of course. Just thinking..." she said softly.

River laid the comb down and sat next to Amy. "About what? You know you can tell me anything." Her voice was quiet and comforting, and she reached out a gentle hand to rub her arm.

"I don't think I can tell you this..." Amy whispered at a barely audible volume, looking at the ground and fiddling with her skirt.

River placed a slender finger under Amy's chin, tilting her head up and looking her in her brown eyes. "Yes you can, Amy. Come on, what's so bad that you can't tell me?"

Before Amy could stop herself, her mouth opened and words just kept pouring out at a rapid pace, saying it all in one breath.

"I'm in love with you and I have been since I met you and I know I'm married to Rory and I know you obviously have feelings for the Doctor but I can't help myself you're so beautiful and lovely and wonderful and..."

She was cut off by River's lips colliding with hers. Her lips were soft and Amy wrapped her arms around her neck, pulling her closer into her as they shared a kiss more passionate than Amy ever had before with Rory.

When they finally broke apart, Amy's mouth opened, trying to find words to say, but River spoke before her.

"I had feelings for the Doctor a long, long time ago. Not anymore. Truth be told, I feel just the same as you do, beautiful Amy Pond." she said, smiling that perfect smile, the one that made Amy's stomach all fluttery and her knees weak.

"Are you serious? You can't be serious..." Amy said astoundedly. She felt like pinching herself to make sure she wasn't dreaming. This was all too good to be real.

"Of course I am, love." She leaned in for another kiss, but Amy moved back, taking hold of her shoulders.

"Wait... what about Rory? I just can't... it'd be wrong..."

"He doesn't have to know. He'll never know. It'll be our little secret." River smirked while she was saying this, and Amy smiled as she kissed her again, wondering how she got to be so lucky.
